NBA Preview: Indiana Pacers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder December 8
At 17 wins and only 2 losses, the Pacers are the best team in the league. Although the offense has been much better this season, it is still their celebrated defense that has brought them this much success. They are the leading the league in terms of opponent field goal percentage. They are the best in defending the interior and their perimeter defense is so good at forcing opponents to take inefficient shots.
However, the Pacers are not without a flaw. Despite the aforementioned improved offense, the team is still not that good at moving the ball when opposing defenses are focused on disrupting their plays. Although Paul George has been godly in making tough shots this season, the team shouldn't rely on him so much to carry the burden of the team's offense.
This is especially the case as the Pacers go on a tough road trip that will see them play against the 2best teams in the league in 2 nights. After visiting the Spurs on Saturday, they will be in Oklahoma on Sunday to face the 14-4 Thunder.
Although often overlooked due to their amazing offense, the Thunder defense is actually pretty good. The team has very good wing defenders. Their frontcourt players are also quite capable of policing the interior. Any team that gets sloppy on the defensive end can get blown out by the Thunder team that feeds well off from turnovers and missed shots that lead to transition basketball.
The Thunder is also undefeated at their home court which means more bad news for the Pacers who are likely going to be tired after playing the Spurs the previous night. While the schedule kind of puts a caveat on this game, the fact that it is between two of the best teams in the league makes this a match worth watching.
