Kobe and Dirk: Twilight Stars
In the world of internet sports betting, there are players that you can rely on night in and night out. From the most trusted website for online sports book betting, here are two stars that have anchored their teams for more than a decade.
Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki are two players with lots of similarities but with key differences. Both have been leading their respective teams into contention for many years. Their offensive prowess places them in a level of their own. They have also stayed effective and efficient regardless of age. They were born in the same year in 1978 and have been in the NBA for a number of years where other players are showing decline with the intensity and overall capability. The Los Angeles Lakers built around Kobe and the Dallas Mavericks did the same with Dirk.
Obviously, the Lakers have been more successful with key acquisitions that they were able to surround Kobe while the Mavs were only able to surround Dirk with a potent team during their lone championship season.
The interesting question now is, in their ripe old age who is the better player that you’d want to build around your team?
Between the two stars, Kobe has the better season in terms of statistics and the current position of the team. His season scoring average is higher than his career average while Dirk is having his lowest scoring average for a season since his sophomore year.
Dirk’s lowered scoring can be attributed to his recovery from the first surgery of his career just before the start of the season. As of late, he has been playing impressively and looking to be getting back to his old form. For many Mavericks fans, this is a flicker of hope for a season that has been disappointing so far.
Although the numbers and statistics look great for Kobe this season, there is one facet of his game that has been horrible. Many experts have been saying it all season that Kobe is playing the worst defense of his career this season. He is playing poorly in the defensive end and becoming a liability in most times. Dirk has never been known for his defense, but as far as his career go, this season is no different from the rest his career.
When picking a player to build around a team, an important aspect to look at is how he scores. With Kobe, most of his scores are on plays that take out the offense of the other teammates, usually going one-on-one and taking tough shots. If you watched Dirk play, his scores on plays that have allowed other players on the team a chance for a move to the basket of a shot.
