NEET UG 2017 – Everything From the Exam Date to Eligibility Criteria
- NEET has replaced all the state and national level medical exams except AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER, Pondicherry.
- Candidates appearing for NEET 2017 can now select any one of the 10 languages – Hindi, English, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Oriya.

NEET UG Eligibility Criteria:
- The candidate must be 17 years or should have turned 17 at the time of admission or on or before December 31, 2017.
- The maximum age limit as on the date of admission for NEET 2017 is set to be 25 years, while a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age will be given to candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward-Class categories.
- The number of attempts for NEET-UG examination is limited to 3 for all candidates. Appearance in NEET 2017 exam will be counted as the first attempt.
- Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs) and Foreign Nationals will be considered eligible for NEET (UG)-2017.
Eligibility criteria for seats under the control of States/Universities/AFMC:
- Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs) and Foreign Nationals are entitled to admission in Medical/Dental Colleges as per the rules and regulations formulated by the respective State Governments and the Government of India.
- All Indian Nationals, PIOs, NRIs, OCIs and Foreign Nationals will be eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
- Foreign nationals would need to confirm their eligibility from the concerned Medical/Dental colleges/state government.
Eligibility Criteria for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K students:
- Students belonging to states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K will not be considered eligible for 15% All India quota seats as they had opted out of the All India Scheme. Students from these states can claim their eligibility by submitting an online Self-Declaration, which will be confirmed at the time of counseling.
- Candidates from these states can appear in NEET 2017 for admissions to Private Medical/Dental Colleges/Deemed University and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, based on their fulfillment of eligibility conditions.
