CMAT Entrance Exam or Common Management Admission Test is a national level entrance exam held by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) every year, following the important guidelines, provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), GOI (Government of India). 

 If you are interested in pursuing your Masters, then CMAT is what you are looking for. This renowned entrance test helps educational institutions in selecting students for admission to various management programmes approved by AICTE. Let's discuss some important aspects of this entrance exam:

About the Exam: CMAT is a three-hour online test which is based on four major segments Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness, each having 25 questions. The time limit for the test is 180 minutes (3 hours).

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must be an Indian citizen, having a graduate degree in any discipline, from any recognized university or institute. Additionally, final year students pursuing any graduate course can also apply for the programmes. There is absolutely no age bar, so feel free to apply after your graduation.

Payment: You can make an online payment using Credit card / Debit card / Net Banking or make cash payment at the nearest SBI branch following the instructions provided.
 
Test Cities: CMAT is conducted at a larger scale covering almost 62 cities across the country. You can easily visit their official website to know the name of the cities. While applying, you can select up to 3 cities according to your preference but the first choice of city will be given major consideration, however, actual allotment will be as per availability. 

CMAT Results: AICTE announces the result for CMAT in the form of score card and you can easily download the scorecard by logging in to your account with your respective credentials. It has the total and sectional score alongwith total and sectional percentile also, including the ALL India rank. Considering the marking pattern, each correct answer gets 4 marks, and each wrong gets 1 mark deduction.

CMAT Cutoff’s: There are thousands of reputed Business Schools affiliated to AICTE which accept the CMAT scores. After announcing the CMAT scores, these management institutes come out with their individual cutoffs. Then according to your CMAT score, you can shortlist the college you would like to apply for. 

Management Programmes: While preparing for the CMAT, a candidate is aiming towards the mentioned Management programmes: PGDM, MBA, PGCM, Executive PGDM & similar. However, each of these management programmes has different eligibility criteria for admission which is provided by every University / Institution. Like for PGDM/MBA, the duration is 2 years and a candidate must have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks (45% for other reserved category).

Conducted by AICTE, this exam holds all the credibility for the students. Anyone planning to give the CMAT entrance exam, can go through the above points and get a clear sense of how there exams are conducted. Earlier, this exam was held twice but now this exam is conducted once in a year, so always keep the important dates in mind.
