Will Santa Claus be Homeless in The Last Christmas Book

As a book The Last Christmas may seem to have been written for lower and middle primary readers, yet the book highlights on a very serious environmental issue of our time. Hence, the book can attract attention of older readers, equally. The story revolves around a fantasy adventure to focus on the harms of Global Warming. 

 

In the North Pole, huge layers of ice suddenly break apart with a terrible sound and it continues. This leaves the inhabitants there utterly frightened. As the ice layers undergo series of split Dasher gets confined within a chilled sea water crowded with abrupt heaps of huge pieces of ice. Vixen, the smallest of Santa’s reindeers, rescues Dasher from the danger. Coming out of the danger, they find that Santa, Matilda, Telver and the others are assembled to figure out the reason behind such disastrous turmoil at the North Pole. 

 

 

They ultimately come to know the actual reason - Global Warming - and makes an analogical study that conclude in a shocking fact  that very soon there will remain very little ice compared what it once was. The Last Christmas book makes a fantastic attempt to grab readers’ attention through the events going on in Santa’s fantasy land.

 

The crisis drawn out in the story initially takes Santa Claus and his associates as the plot. In reality, however, the issue is much more pragmatic and vaster. If ice at the North Pole continues melting down the primary victim will be the birds and animals that live there. As they cannot adjust to warmer climate possibility is very high that they will go extinct. 

 

 

Again, if the ice layers at the North Pole vanishes so fast this will ultimately result in sudden rise of sea level. So, people living in close proximity of sea or ocean become vulnerable to be flooded out. 

 

As a whole, disaster taking place at the North Pole will bring forth the subsequent calls for destruction in other parts of the globe. And, there will be a total disbalance in the eco-system. The Last Christmas book gets us to rethink what we are doing to nature. We must stop our mindless use of coals and oils that give rise to greenhouse gases. Else, the day is not very far when we will actually have our last Christmas. Ian Irvine and Roland Kulen have composed a very arresting story-line in this book, and readers are impatiently waiting to know what ultimately happens to Santa Claus.
