The Last Christmas by Ian Irvine is a great fantasy adventure to fascinate young and older readers alike. Its mirthful beginning with a twist of crisis suddenly takes the tone shifted from a childlike encounters to something very serious. Ice layers at the North Pole start to crumble suddenly when Vixen and Dasher, two of Santa’s reindeers, are busy in a playful adventure. It almost takes Dasher to the verge of imminent death. Only by the grace of almighty Dasher escapes the danger.

As the story proceeds, we see a surging isolation in every nook and corner there, as if life has come to its finality at the North Pole. Surviving the crisis, when Vixen and Dasher start to find what behind the scene is, they notice an assembly being initiated at santa’s office. They find that Santa, Matilda, Telver, Rafe and Comet are assembled to throw light on the sudden crisis that hit their village at the North Pole. Dasher and Vixen are peeping through the skylight to understand the matters presided over there.

Suddenly, when Dasher out of curiosity, stride on the skylight to have a better view, it breaks apart to land them amid the discussion. Once the mess gets sorted out the discussion furthers to a grave fact. Global Warming is the culprit behind the scene. They arrive on very alarming supposition where a polar bear and her two cubs are seen floating on a slice of ice. Ice is becoming a relic of past rapidly. A comparison shown by Comet points out to a huge lot of ice at the North Pole in 1980 compared to the very less of it left there now.

The fast disappearance of ice at the North Pole announces the massive disruption of eco-balance there. If it persists no ice will be left there. So, a threatening crisis is drawn out where not only the Arctic life is under danger, but also our emotions with the North Pole and Santa Claus is under a big question.  The formation of green gigantic question mark above the North Pole in the story symbolizes its vulnerability. Are we going to see our last Christmas very soon?

Only the first chapter of The Last Christmas has been published, which already highlight on the critical conditions at the North Pole. The rest of the story is coming very soon. Read the full story to find out whether we can save our Santa and his village at the North Pole, or we are going to witness the last Christmas on the planet.
