The Sky City at Durgapur Offers Affordable Housing for All
Larica Group, a big player in the real estate development sector, has been entrusted the task of developing a township at the newly constructed project named ‘Sujalaam’ - the skycity at Durgapur, West Bengal. It is supposed to roll out a 10,000 units budget housing project. The project is supposed to cover an area of 10.56 acres. The project is likely to be completed in phases. Phase one is already into construction and it will accompany about 2,000 units of houses.
‘Sujalaam’ Skycity has world class amenities. It will have a green open space all around, recreational facilities of a club, indoor and outdoor infrastructures, elevators at all residential towers, retail outlets, and a swimming pool. The price for different phases of the project ranges from 5 lakhs to 15 lakhs targeting the group of families with lower income.
The Skycity project is headed by Partha Ghosh, the MD of Bengal Aerotropolis. He is also among the Board of Directors. He says there is a strong requirement to have an overall societal development of the community, when they look into developing such a project as of ‘Sujalaam’ Skycity. He further thinks that the purpose of this company should be offering quality living for al;. The total project caters towards providing such advantageous facilitations.
The BAPL project also sees an airport beside Sujalaam Skycity that completes the concept of an Aerotropolis. This airport is a refurbished version of an old military air field that was used by the US Military during the World War II. The newly inaugurated one has been named as Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport. This airport has been developed by a Singapore based company named Changi Airports International Private Limited that has dedicated its expertise to look after all of the developmental aspects of Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited. Mr. Partha Ghosh of BAPL has done a lot to tie-up with the country’s leading airlines like IndiGo and GoAir for connecting flights between Durgapur and New Delhi and also with Air India and Air Coasta in order to connect the cities of Durgapur, Hyderabad and Bangalore. These airlines demanded concessions in their take-off and landing fees, which were granted by BAPL and hence the things moved on as expected.
