Durgapur Gets the Rank of a Futuristic City

Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL) brings an Airport city in Durgapur, West Bengal. BAPL launches India’s first Airport city in West Bengal. It has the India’s first privately owned Greenfield airport. BAPL conceived its plans to develop this airport city in full co-operation from a Singapore based firm named Changi Airports International. This company had much prior experience, in doing similar projects in other countries of the world. In fact, they are the one having much expertise in this field. They already have worked for developing Aerotropolis in countries like Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore. As a result, there have been massive developments in economic growth among these countries, after the launch of the Aerotropolis concept.

The exact definition of Aerotropolis or an airport city can be - a city’s extension into an area that holds an ultra-modern airport and an associated city within close proximity to each other. The economy of this so called aero-city is mostly dependant over the revenues that this airport earns. 

Moreover, the so called Aerotropolis city has some infrastructures that contribute to some amenities like having a World Class Airport, Big Residences, Information and Technology Hubs, Business Parks, Education Hubs, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Logistics, Retail and Lifestyle centres etc.

Other than the above the project also has some more features that included:

• A theme park – It has a beautiful theme park

• Central park – a beautifully designed central park, which enhances the beauty of this big housing project.

Mr. Partha Ghosh who is the chairman cum Managing Director of BAPL was the first to bring the Aerotropolis concept in India. After developing this aero-city, Mr. Partha Ghosh also did develop a high rise city that was named as Sujalaam skycity, which is a part of this Aerotropolis concept.
