Andal is a small town near Durgapur. The place was among some of the lesser known places on the earth, until it came into limelight and rose up being an important part of the 10,000 crores Aerotropolis project.

Andal is an industrial region. It has many small and big industries. The nearby areas are Asansol, Raniganj and Durgapur. BAPL built an Aerotropolis in-line with Andal and Durgapur. This Aerotropolis project is spread over 2182 acres of land. The entire technical knowhow has been hired by a company called Changi Airports International. It is a Singapore based company that has great experience in developing similar projects in other places around the world. As a part of their services offered, the company is charging a small cut in the profits that are expected to be earned by this Aerotropolis project.

This newly constructed Aerotropolis has many amenities. It has big housing complexes, a beautiful theme park. It is also going to become a central business district, where major trade and commerce will flow. Additionally, it also has a Central park which is a beautifully designed central park, which enhances the beauty of this big housing project. The row houses has always been an option for descent living. The houses have sufficient open spaces and are well planned. Moreover it has an Information Technology park and institutional park.  The project also holds within it, an industrial and logistic zone, where most of the allied industries are located. Furthermore, it has a golf course to raise the living standards of the residents of the Aerotropolis city.

Initially the airport that was developed suffered some issues. But now it has set an example for other states and so the state of Punjab is now all set to start the development of similar project in the Ludhiana city. This Ludhiana Aerotropolis is also being developed under the care and support of BAPL. It is going to be India’s second Aerotropolis city after Durgapur. The airport at Andal is India’s first private Greenfield airport.
