Removing Nail Polish Stains from Carpet

You have a big date tonight, but however you are a working girl and you have only a few hours between the end of the working day and the start of your date. So no time for expensive and long beauty procedures – you can do it yourself at home. Starting for the hands you need to polish your nails and of course – the Murphy law is working and your nail polish becomes a stain on your precious carpet. No time for worries and ruining your big date – just calm down and follow the steps below to clean your carpet.

1. Remove the excess of the nail polish from the carpet blotting the spot by paper towels

2. Use a clean cloth and nail polish remover or acetone to dab the area. Wet the towel with the acetone or the nail polish remover and slowly start cleaning the area starting from the corner of the stain and moving gently to the centre.

3. Blot the area using a clean dry cloth and absorb the acetone and the nail polish remainings from the carpet.

4. If you still see any stains on the carpet repeat the process again until no more traces are seen.

5. Use a dry-cleaning solvent or carpet cleaner to apply on the stain using another clean cloth.

6. Blot the area again using a clean dry cloth to absorb the cleaning product.

7. Dip the corner of a clean cloth into a hydrogen peroxide and slowly dab the stain. Be careful with the hydrogen peroxide on the dark coloured carpets because it could cause bleaching. Use a small amount of the peroxide on a small hidden area of the carpet to check the effects of the product.

8. Use a clean cloth and cold water to rinse the peroxide of the carpet.

9. Blot the area using a clean dry cloth.

10. After the area is completely dry you will be able to see if you have removed entirely the nail polish stain from the carpet.
