Our body is divided into two different types of mass: fat-free mass and body fat. Fat-free mass is literally contains all the non-fat tissues of body including organs, water, muscle and bone. Body fat is the fat located within the body. Body composition refers to the relative amount of body to fat-free mass. Having too much fat in comparison to fat free mass refers to an unhealthy body composition. People with optimal body composition can move efficiently and easily and feel much better than ideal body composition.

A healthy body composition facilitates in weight loss by losing excess fat and retaining of muscle. It also decreases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, insulin insensitivity, hormone imbalance, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.
