Durgapur Aerotropolis – A Project by BAPL
The company Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL) has already launched its much awaited project – the Durgapur Aerotropolis project. This Aerotropolis project has two poles that run parallel to each other. The first one is an Aerotropolis city and the other one is a privately owned airport. Both of these two revolve around each other and their economies too, share some common resources.
The Durgapur Aerotropolis city is named as – Sujalaam, the Skycity. It has a solid base of infrastructures that contribute towards its unparalleled success. Some of the main features as offered by this residential society are:
- MIG / LIG / EWS housing - The flats are classified under three main categories – Middle income group, Lower income group and Economical weaker section classes of people.
- Theme park – It has a beautiful theme park.
- CBD – It is going to become a central business district, where major trade and commerce will flow.
- Central park – a beautifully designed central park, which enhances the beauty of this big housing project.
- Row houses – The row houses has always been an option for descent living. The houses have sufficient open spaces and are well planned.

Mr. Partha Ghosh who is the Managing Director of Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited, says - besides the Sujalaam Skycity, there runs the India’s first privately owned greenfield airport named as KNI Airport, or Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport. The airport has the best socio-economic infrastructures, which play an important role in the development of this Aerotropolis city.
The project is spread over 2182 acres of land. The entire technical knowhow has been hired by a company called Changi Airports International. It is a Singapore based company that has massive experience in developing similar projects around other places in the world. Against their great services, the company is charging a small cut in the profits that are expected to be earned by this Aerotropolis project. The Skycity concept is the very first of its kind in this region and with Mr. Partha Ghosh, the Sujalaam skycity is surely going to take a steep turn towards a successful venture.
