With regards to CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) concentration levels, the risks of health problems increase for people who regularly come in contact with the gas. Moreover, to avoid the hazardous effects of abnormal concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere, one must be aware of the dangers and informed of the symptoms so as to minimize undiscoverable losses.

Storage of Carbon Dioxide Gas Cylinders

•    Observing the hazardous nature of the gas, it is recommended to store them in a definitely assigned location, secured by a chain of approved type.
•    The CO2 gas cylinders must be stored indoors in a cool and dry, ventilated location away from corrosives & any source of heat.
•    Always control the temperature of the aluminum CO2 cylinders up to 115⁰F and keep them away from heating radiators or furnaces.
•    Any damage to the cylinders from a fall could cause serious damages to the cylinder, valve, or the safety relief devices.
•    Never use a lifting magnet to handle a cylinder. Instead, a crane can be preferred when a safe cradle or platform is available.
•    The cylinder valve must be closed all the time except when the gas is actually being used.
•    They must be secured in an upright position to eliminate the possibility of toppling

Handling of CO2 Gas Cylinders

•    Place a properly sized nylon washer inside the regulator coupling nut so that it presents a flat surface to the valve outlet
•    Ensure that the spring does not bear any pressure. All the gauges should read 0-PSIG
•    Open the cylinder valve completely so as to prevent the loss of gas from stem leakage
•    By turning the adjustment screw until the gauge reads 30-PSIG, you can check the internal relief system. If you observe the pressure gauge rising on placing a finger over the cover vent hole, an internal leak is evident
•    Close the cylinder valve and observe the high pressure gauge (1800-PSIG) for about one minute. It should ideally remain constant. However, if it reads less, there is a possibility of system leak.
•    Check all CO2 system connections and lines as well as CO2 regulators gages and fittings.
•    The CO2 check valves must be inspected and cleaned at least once a year under normal conditions. Also, the quad ring seal must be replaced each time the servicing is done.

The CO2 cylinders are pressurized containers. They can be dangerous when mishandled. For your safety and proper functioning of your system, you can trust gas cylinders from JTC Valves Sales who are known for maintaining the relevant industry standards.
