Tefzel hoses are designed for transfer of high pressure gases like helium and hydrogen. The tefzel gas hose comes with an end fitting integrated valve for safely shutting off the system.

Some interesting facts about the material used to make Tefzel gas hose:

  • Teflon or PTFE (polyetrafluoroethylene is a plastic resin
  • It was discovered by Dr. Roy Plunkett, a scientist with DuPont in 1938
  • Due to its high molecular weight, PTFE is resistant to a wide variety of chemicals
  • Teflon/PTFE can withstand a wide range of temperatures
  • It is known to have superior non-stick properties

With the above properties in one material, Teflon was the chosen material for making high quality, reliable and safe transfer hoses. Tefzel gas hose can be used at temperatures ranging from -60 deg C to +260 deg C.  Being non reactive to virtually all chemicals, Teflon transfer hose are used in transfer of almost all gases and liquids. The PTFE is non-flammable, unaffected by UV radiations, resistant to oxidation or weathering.

Being light weight and highly flexible, Tefzel hoses are the most convenient transfer hoses for various applications. They exhibit low permeability, low frictional properties, resistant to solvents and unlimited shelf life.

Understanding your requirement for tefzel hoses

Temperature and pressure: as the hose works on a wide range of temperatures, an increase in working temperature require reduction in bursting pressure. If you find exceptionally more vibrations, fluctuations in pressure or temperature fluctuation, contact the manufacturer as these variations will affect the performance of the transfer hose.

Pressure testing:  every hose is effectively tested by the purchaser before supplying to the buyer for final use. In case you are purchasing in bulk, it is advisable to get the purchase tested again.

Pressure database: the burst pressure is tested at an ambient temperature with multiple samples. If you are planning to use the tefzel gas hose at specific pressure and temperatures, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer to ensure the margin provided for the burst pressure for your safety.

Length of the transfer hose: the PTFE hoses are available in various lengths. You have the option to contact the seller for a specific length that you require.

Chemical resistance: Teflon is resistant to almost all chemicals, which makes it the preferred choice for transfer hoses that are used in various applications. It is inert to all chemicals and solvents including fuming nitric and sulfuric acids, methanol, amines and antioxidants. It is known to react with alkali metal in the molten form, fluorine, chlorine and trifluoride. Do check the compatibility of the transfer hose with the gas or liquid you intend to use it with.

Reduction in static buildup: the electrostatic charge that develops inside the transfer hose when electrically resistive fluids are transferred at high flow rates. To prevent the static buildup, carbon is mixed with PTFE to reduce the resistivity.

Models of PTFE Tefzel hose:

Tefzel hoses are widely used for hydrogen and helium service. The available types of transfer hoses are:

·         ETFE core, single SS braid. Style 4TZ-3000 psi

·         ETFE core, double SS braid. Style 4TZD-3600 psi with brass end fittings.

·         ETFE core, single SS braid. Style 4TZD-4500 psi with SS end fittings.

The transfer gas hose is designed to work under high pressure. For the safety of functioning, the transfer hose comes with a valve as an end fitting. If the hose fails, the valves automatically shut off to prevent any catastrophic event which prevents loss to human life and property.
