Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL) being the promoter of the India’s first private Greenfield airport at Durgapur has already waved the green flag to the Aerotropolis project. The Aerotropolis concept focuses on a city that has its infrastructure and socio-economic growth dependant on an airport’s economy. As some of its norms, an Aerotropolis should consist of a residential establishment that is nearby to an airport, a hospital, a school, a University, and some corporate spaces such as a retail mart, entertainment hubs, information technology hubs etc.

BAPL has developed one such residential establishment at the Durgapur city and named it as ‘Sujalaam’ that is located at almost at the centre of the Durgapur – Asansol industrial zone.

It can also be said that Sujalaam is located at the centre of the Raniganj coal belt - one of the richest coal producing zones in the country. The Dhanbad coal belt (once known as the Coal Capital of India) is a 90 minutes drive from the location. BAPL is headed by Mr. Partha Ghosh - who is one among the company’s board of directors. He has more than twenty years of experience in the infrastructure and real estate sector with a strong hold over developing multiple infrastructural, residential township projects.

The company gained much reputation after the success of this project and it was successful in establishing itself as a specialized infrastructure company. After the development of the Durgapur project, BAPL is now stepping forward towards other similar projects in other parts of India including Ludhiana.

Mr. Partha Ghosh of BAPL has also managed to tie up with big players in the aviation industries like GoAir, IndiGo for letting its air travel operations open up for the public in commercial form. Presently, it is serving flights between Durgapur to New Delhi and Kolkata. But they have plans to expand services to cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore. These airlines have granted special concessions to their landing and takeoff fees.

According to Mr. Partha Ghosh, the total project has been engineered to show up excellence optimally. The attempts of the company are understood vividly when we take a look at ‘Sujalaam skycity’ that is also going to draw attention of the following economic growth factors:

  • It is going to offer new job opportunities in the field of IT, Telecom, and retail sectors.
  • It can give a boost to the existing trade and commerce.
  • It can help develop the tourism sector.
  • It can also help in the development of educational resources in the adjoining areas.

Author’s bio:  Mr. Partha Ghosh, the MD of BAPL, states that India is soon going to see the airport improving air connectivity across West Bengal and other parts of India. Mr. Partha Ghosh has also been successful in making ‘Sujalaam skycity’ and his efforts have resulted in getting the company new projects.
