A Sky-City that Forms a Part of India’s Initial Aero-City

Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL) is a company that helped develop Sujalaam - the sky city, which is a part of India’s first ever Aerotropolis project. The total project covers a modern airport, IT skypark, a Logistic skyhub, acres of residential plots, excellent educational institutions, cutting edge medical facilities and a host of other features that one can expect from a modern Aerotropolis. 

BAPL developed an old airway at Andal a small town near Durgapur, which was used by the US Military once, at the time of Second World War.  The company’s vision was to establish itself as the specialized infrastructure company that can lead the total project of developing a semi-urban land into an Aerotropolis and it indeed did this for the Durgapur city. Not only did they develop Andal air-base into a commercial airport, but they also developed the city into an Aerotropolis, and formed a high rise residential area around it that was named as Sujalaam – the sky city. After the development of the Durgapur project and proving its efficacy, BAPL is now stepping forward towards other similar projects in other parts of India. The company is planning Ludhiana Aerotropolis and a few more in the pipeline - says the MD of BAPL.

In the development of total project, BAPL has acquired expertise of Changi Airports International Pte. Ltd. – a Singapore based company which had developed many such projects in past. They deal in airport management and consultancy. Both BAPL and Changi Airports have worked together to meet the grand success of the Bengal Aerotropolis project.

The Sujalaam sky city project covers amenities like – green open space, recreational facilities equivalent to that of a club, indoor and outdoor infrastructures, elevators in each of the residential towers, and a swimming pool. It has a proposed unit of 10,000 budget housing plots under the plan, which is spread over an area of 10.56 acres. Sujalaam Sky city after passing through all of its developmental stages, have now come up as a blooming real estate property in the region, which can be called upon as the soul of this project. 

When talking about the company BAPL and the group of leaders behind its grand success, a name that comes ahead of all is that of Mr. Partha Ghosh. He is the Managing Director (MD) of BAPL and his contributions to the whole project are certainly accountable. Mr. Partha Ghosh visualised the Sujalaam skycity project and implemented it in a way that lead it reach new heights.
