Overcoming Depression 101

A Great way to get yourself out of a funk

I've found that for me a good way to get over my blues is to help someone else.  This New Years eve is a great time to help others and maybe save a life in the process.  How many people do you know that will be going to parties and have one too many for getting behind the wheel.

Be a designated driver.  My last year in Florida I gave my name and number to several friends to call if they had too much to drink.  A couple of them took me up on the offer and I picked them up from the parties they had gone to and took them home.   Honestly while I was playing taxi, I really didn't have time to be depressed.  And afterwards I knew I had done my part to prevent a tragedy.

It's so true, amazing how helping someone else, also helps us too..in more ways than one.

I love your idea of driving your friends. What a sweetheart you are!

This is a great idea, and it can definitley save a lot of lives.

I just heard another nice story. One of my relatives always had accumulated a lot of vacation time. One of his co-workers needed to have a major surgery and would be laid up for two months without pay. He gave her 80 hours of his paid vacation time, to help her out.
I
Love hearing the unselfish generosity of others. Things like what you did Cheryl, and what my relative did, cheer me up just hearing about it. In some way or another, our good deeds do come back around to us, without asking them to come back.

Being a designated driver is a great idea!

And if you're busy helping out someone else, then you are
too busy to think of your own problems. Helps every time.

Fantastic Idea Cheryl!

Although drunks are a lot more fun to be around when you are one, saving lives and preventing tradgedies is even more fun!

A couple weeks ago I played DD fora good friend of mine. All the way home he kept punching me and arguing with me, but I had the satisfaction of knowing he was safe at home yakking his guts out, rather than lying in the county morgue!

I'm probably not going to drive anyone this year, I just don't know most of the people in my neighborhood well enough for that, but I'm looking around to see if maybe the cab companies or other groups need help with the phone calls for rides.

You are an Angel to be concerned about others. I have slowed down a lot for celebrating in the public for holidays. Maybe that's because of my maturity. I still enjoy public celebrations; however, I am more selective these days. I have three annul must do public celebrations "St. Patty's Day in Laurens County Georgia" -- "Flashback, sponsored by The TomJoynerMorningShow Crew at the CocaCola AmphaTheatre in Atlanta, GA" and concerts and/or plays at the Atlanta Civic Center.
