This is where you may ask OC questions, to get to know him better.

Feel free to ask about his hobbies, interests, family & home. As long as it isn't to personal or business related.

Please give him a chance to answer the last question, before asking another.

OC,

In another post you mentioned your hat with teddy bears on it. Is there a story that goes with that hat?

Hi, Lynn,

Yes - there is quite a story attached to my teddy bears.

In short, they are part of a collection that was used to help finance the Marie Curie Foundation.

As a cancer patient of extremely long standing, it is safe to say that I probably owe my life to the work of Marie Curie as do many people who I have encouraged to undergo the same heroic surgery as me. This is very taxing work and brings me into contact with people who live an alien life style but who are in great emotional distress because of some of the perceived effects of the surgery.

The teddy bears are also the 'hard' portion of my collection of cuddly toys.

OC,

Thank you for sharing this. I went and read a small amount about this foundation...the first donation of an engagement ring, led me to read further.

Hi Arthur,

I have enjoyed reading your posts around APSense. I see you are living in Spain. Have you lived in other countries?

Hi, Karen,

I have moved about a bit within the UK having lived in seven different counties.

I have also lived in Germany, Ireland, Kenya and on Ibiza. My eight years at my current address is the longest time I have ever stayed in one place - I must be getting old.

OC,
you lived in Ireland for a while, did you get to kiss the Blarney Stone?

Hi, Monica and Wayne,

The Blarney Stone is quite difficult to get at and I am simply too disabled to attempt it.

My wife did kiss it and she was nearly able to match me word for word after that!

I think my Irish mother-in-law invented it.

Where were you born and raised?

Hi, Mizrae,

I was born in Grimsby on the east coast of England.

Grimsby was one of the foremost fishing ports and in its' heyday in my childhood and teen years. Because life at sea was so hard and the time on shore was so short, the days when the fleet was in were marked by drunkenness, tremendous generosity and some spectacular bar fights.

Because so many of the men-folk worked at sea on in the docks, my Sundays were spent walking dock-land and looking at the ships from such awe inspiring places as Russia, Holland, Sweden and Germany.

Hi,
I am a big animal lover. The dog beside you is gorgeous, and very huge!
Please tell us more about him or her. What kind of dog is that?

Good Grief Lynn, you really know how to pick 'em. Do you know what you are letting yourself in for featuring Arthur?! LOL

I am taking "hush money" from the said "Old Coot" for not answering some of the questions myself - because he is a neighbour of mine. heheheh

Isn't the dog beautiful! - I took that photo when I went for a "short" 5 mile hike to walk the dogs on a visit to Coin.

I am dying to see what Mr Webster has to say for himself!!

Jenny

Hi. lisa,

Scamp is a perro pastor cote d'Atur Catala - a very popular type of sheep dog.

She has saved my life on at least three occasions when I had become hypothermic because I do not have a normal body thermostat and will never warm up automatically, no matter how cold I get. This is aggravated by the fact hat I can nofeel the cold,

Hi, Jenny,

We will have to repeat that walk so that we can recreate the scene with Chap before the whole area is covered in golfers.

I am, I think you will agree, behaving quite well here - and limiting my posts.

Hi Arthur,

I am NOT repeating a "short" 5 mile walk! LOL I have been caught out once! Do I look that daft? (on second thoughts - you don't need to answer that question)

I want to ask a question - if i come ovre to see you all next month - what's for lunch?(well it said to ask you questions!)

I know were only allowed one question at a time, so I will just leave a comment this time.
I think that is so cool that you (Arhtur! yeah, don't have to call you the Old Coot anymore..ha..ha.) and Jenny know each other! Yes, Jenny.. Scamp is beautiful I agree, a gorgoeus breed. What a great helper for you, Arthur!

Hi, Jenny,

Judy will be here after 5th December so lunch will be my treat after that date - I think eating out at the new Indian restaurant would be a good idea.

Before that I am having some great results with slow cooked vegetables with various HOT spices and you will be able to sample whatever emerges from the sarten. How does yam, aubergine, mushroom and onion sound? A nice basmati rice base will set it off quite well.

For pudding we will have to go next door and sample the dulces del dia.

Hi, Lisa,

I think I am capable of answering more than one question at a time and, since the time zone I live in is very different to most people posting here, it might be a way to avoid long delays.

Hi Arthur,

Sounds like I'll have to bring some jewish penicillin to start of with! Especially if you are going to go vegetarian on us.

Can I bring Sultan to come and play with Scamp and Chap?

Hi, Jenny,

Sultan will be more than welcome.

I have not gone vegetarian but it is easy to know what veg to cook, so far in advance, but there will definitely be some form of flesh to go with it. Some very sharp chorizo sliced and dropped in a few minutes before filling your plate and my trough would be a good idea or some diced steak, braised as a side dish would be lovely.
