  • Using the FAT32 version of the O/S instead of NTFS.

How can I Troubleshoot Data Protect Backup Failed Error in QuickBooks

Solution 1: Update QuickBooks.

  • Choose 'Ok.'

  • Hit on "Add" and, then, add the files "IBUenghost.exe" and "IntuitDataProtect.exe."

Solution 3: Add IDP in the Trusted Websites

  • Click on the Windows Start button. 

  • Type "Internet Options."

  • Go to Security.

  • Choose Trusted Sites under Security.

  • Now, go to Sites and type backup.com, *.intuit.net, *.intuitdataprotect.com, *.intuit.com, *.QuickBooks.com, and “workplace.intuit.com” one at a time.

  • Then, click on Add.

  • Make sure that 'Require Server Verification' box is unchecked.

  • Click on Close and then hit on Ok

Solution 4: Use Data Protect Diagnostic Tool

  • Right-click the IDP icon and choose About Intuit Data Protect.

  • Now, press the Ctrl + F2 keys.

  • Click on Check for Problems.

  • If the test results are successful, it indicates that the error got resolved. 

Solution 5: Add Data Protection to the Startup List

  • Press and hold the "Win+R" keys.

  • Type 'MSConfig' in the Run box.

  • Check all of the QuickBooks services under the Startup tab.

  • Click on "Apply" and then hit on "Ok."
