Keep your beliefs intact by wearing Royal Arch Companion Apron

Craft Freemasonry and the Royal Arch are inextricably linked. Together, they make up "pure Antient Masonry," which is made up of "three degrees and no more," including the Supreme Order of the Holy Royal Arch, and includes the Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason. This marks the end of Craft masonry. Royal Arch Chapters convene no more than three times yearly, separately from Lodge meetings. Usually, the costs are much lower than for lodges. Members of a Chapter are known as Companions and are typically affiliated with a Lodge.

Compared to what is worn in a Craft Lodge, the regalia is different. In order to demonstrate the connection between Craft and Royal Arch, Royal Arch Masons should also wear this regalia in their Craft Lodges. It consists of an apron with a red and blue border, a red and blue sash, and a unique jewel. Royal Arch ritual is an allegory, just like those of the other Masonic degrees. It helps to direct the Companions' thoughts toward a contemplation of the nature of and their relationship with their God that will be appropriate to their religion without contradicting their religious beliefs.

Importance of Apron

Royal Arch Masons wear robes, aprons, sashes, collars, chains, and jewellery as part of their uniform. The Craft wore the original Royal Arch apron, with or without adding symbolic embellishments. Since the "Moderns" had already adopted an apron similar to those worn today in 1766, this was primarily the case with the "Antient." The Grand Chapter decided to forbid its use there until the Grand Lodge approved a solution, but this never happened. The Craft objected to the Royal Arch Masons of the "Antient" system wearing typical aprons with all the symbols in the Lodges.

Where can you wear it?

The gold or metal-gilded fringe and the red background of the emblem are found on the aprons of Past and Present Principals. The only difference between the aprons worn by the Principals of Chapters and those worn by Grand Officers, Grand Superintendents, and all senior Companions is that the Principals' aprons have a dark blue background with an emblem on them. Some officers (such as the Grand Officers) required long-term collars or chain wear.

The privilege is now extended to many more officers, unlike the previous century when only the Grand Superintendents wore collars and chains. In a Craft lodge, the Royal Arch Jewell but not the collar or chain are permitted to be worn. It is forbidden to wear Royal Arch Masonry-issued collars, sashes, and aprons in public.
