Brief introduction about Royal Arch degrees

by Collection Masonic Manufacturer
Royal Arch Masonry is the first and foremost part of York Rite system. Members of Royal Arch are known as Companions and meet as Chapters. These Chapters are ruled over by the three Principals conjointly and the Grand Chapter is ruled over by three Grand Principals. It is continuation of Craft Masonry. The degrees conferred in Royal Arch Chapter are:

• Mark Master Mason
• Past Master
• Most Excellent Master
• Royal Arch Mason

The exaltation ceremony of this degree is divided in two parts; a dramatic presentation on the principles of the Order and it is followed by three lectures which explain the history, principles and symbolism of the Royal Arch Masonry.

Royal Arch degrees are explained below:

Mark Master Mason Degree

This degree is an extension of the Fellow Crafts’ second degree. It may be conferred in a Fellow Craft Lodge in some of the jurisdictions. This degree originated as a ceremony to register a craftsman’s mark by the Operative Craft Mason and their temple building. But in later years it was considered as a full-fledged degree by the Masonic fraternity.

Past Master Degree (Virtual)

This degree originated because Royal Arch degree was conferred to only the actual Past Masters by the Symbolic Blue Lodge. As there were so many applications for this degree, Past Master degree came into existence to make it possible for all the worthy Brethren to receive it. This degree was conferred the first time in 1768 in England.

Most Excellent Master Degree

This degree was firstly conferred in a Royal Arch Chapter in the year 1783 in Middletown, Conn. It is considered as the most spectacular degree in Freemasonry. This degree brings attention to the building and completion of King Solomon’s Temple. The entire Masonic symbolism is based upon this.

Royal Arch Degree

This degree is the most beautiful degree in Freemasonry and the brothers who reach this degree may straight away join Knights Templar in some jurisdictions. This degree is the final stage of Ancient Craft Masonry and all the Masonic symbolism. The roots of this degree are traced in the late 17th century in Ireland and in the year 1738 in England.

The value of this degree is completely justified and appreciated by all who are exalted to this most sublime degree, particularly by those who are seeking to complete their Masonic education. Royal Arch Degree reveals the full light of Ancient Craft Masonry and justly entitles you to claim the noble name of Master Mason.
