How to Prepare GK for CLAT Exam

CLAT or Common Law Aptitude Test is one of the most significant law entrance exam in India. The popular entrance examination is conducted by 18 National Law Universities (NLUs) on a rotational basis. The qualifying students get admission to reputed Law colleges in India for integrated LL.B. and LL.M. programmes.

 

Among the various sections of the CLAT paper, are GK and Current Affairs. These are also regarded as one of the most mark fetching sections. Students do practice aptitude tests a lot but, an effective preparation for GK can lead them to score well in this section.

 

The General Knowledge part consists of two types: static and current. Over the past few years there has been a decrease in the number of static GK based questions, and more Current Affairs questions. There are at least 30 important topics for GK. Some of these are:

Tips to Prepare GK for CLAT Exam:

1.     Books – For static GK, books by Pearson concise manual and Arihant offer a lot. For Current Affairs, CLATGyan, Arihant and compendiums of GK today are useful. These also contain practice aptitude tests sometimes.

2.     Mock Test–Mock test papers are best for giving you mixed questions. Most eLearning sites give free practice tests online in a realistic environment to test your preparation.

3.     Previous Papers – Apart from online mock test, the CLAT pattern can be best understood by looking at previous year papers. They contain a list of important topics related to GK.

4.     Magazines and Newspapers – For daily dose of incidents in national and international domain, make it a habit of reading newspapers daily. Also, go through magazines to stay updated with latest news.

5.     Previous Trends – Track down mock test questions from past few years and see the pattern for CLAT 2018. If questions on some particular topics are asked, then they might be repeated. For instance in the year 2014 and 2015, maximum questions were asked from ‘Politics and Government’

Clearing the CLAT Exam successfully gives you plenty of career options. These include:

a.)   Registering with bar council to practice in courts

b.)   Attempting NET exam and become professor

c.)   Opt for corporate law

d.)   Work in law firms and startups that make mobile applications like law diary or lawyer’s diary.

e.)   Become entrepreneur, write books or make mobile phone apps like digital law diary for law professionals

f.)    Give exams for public prosecutor
