How to Extend Windows or Mac Desktop with Chromecast

Steps to Extend Windows Desktop with Chromecast

•    Go to the Start menu.

•    Choose the “Settings” option.

•    The additional way is to right-click on the Display Settings option.

•    Open the “System (Display, notification, apps, and power)” option.

•    Press on the “Detect” option.

•    The Windows start indicating that “Display not detected,” but an azure color display will appear on your system

•    Slide down to the “Multiple displays” option.

•    Press on the pull-down checkbox.

•    After that, choose the “Try to connect anyway on VGA” option.

•    Choose the second display.

•    In the pull-down list, choose the “Extend these displays” option.

•    Press on the “Apply” option.

•    You will get a message on the screen, and it indicates, “Keep these displays settings?”

•    Press the “Keep changes” option.

Now you can use the second display to extend desktop with Chromecast. Here are the steps mentioned below to complete this procedure:

•    Go to the Google Chrome browser on the Windows PC.

•    Before pairing the Chromecast by pressing on the Chromecast symbol located in the top right-hand side of the Google Chrome browsing application.

•    You have to press on the arrow given on the part of the Chromecast symbol.

•    Here, slide down to “Cast screen/window (experimental).”

•    After that, choose it.

•    Select the second display

•    You can view the Windows desktop on both the PC and smart TV.

•    Now you have successfully extended Windows desktop with Chromecast.

•    It also permits you to move the windows, programs, and apps among the Windows desktop and smart TV.

Steps to Extend Mac Desktop with Chromecast using Chrome browser

•    Download and install the latest version of the Google Chrome browsing application.

•    Now, Chromecast is in-built in Google Chrome browsing application.

•    In the old days, you have to download and install any other extension for using the Chromecast in Google Chrome browser.

•    Once the download and installation procedure of Google Chrome is completed, you need to go to Google Chrome.

•    In case you have already downloaded the Google Chrome, then ensure that you have the latest version of it.

•    To do this procedure, press on the Google Chrome located in the top left the side of the display.

•    Choose the “About Chrome” option.

•    After choosing the “About Chrome” option, it will let you know that you are using the latest version of Google Chrome browser.

•    Press on the option to receive a notification to update the Google Chrome browser.

Once the updating process of Google Chrome is completed, then you need to follow the steps mentioned below:

•    Press on the Chromecast symbol given in the top right-hand side of the Google Chrome browsing application.

•    After opening the “Cast to” option, choose the pull-down arrow.

•    You will get two options on the screen whether you need to choose “Cast tab” or “Cast desktop” option.

•    Select the “Cast desktop” option.

•    Now, you will go back to the Chromecast selection window.

•    After that, choose the Chromecast option.

•    You will get a context menu on the display which indicates, “Do you want Chrome Media Router to share your screen?”

•    Press on the “Yes” option.

•    Now you have successfully extended Mac desktop with Chromecast using Chrome browser.
