Where Have All The Sales Gone?

by Jean DAndrea Retired
Where have all the sales gone?
Long time passing,
Where have all the sales gone?
Not to me, for sure!
Where have all the sales gone?
Gone to the gurus, every one.
When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn?

Sung to the tune of "Where Have All The Flowers Gone".

Anyone got any ideas?     It certainly seems to have gone quiet out there
on the marketing front, as well as here in Apsense.

Are you having success marketing?     Are the TE's working for you?
How about the safelists?

What does work at the moment?

Maybe it's time to learn something new, put the makeup on, and try
and make a video.........

It has been dead around here for sure. Even our regular spammers seem to have given up the ghost.

Hi, Snakesmum,

What is there to buy?

Those of you selling a physical product are too far away for the likes of me - postage from America is horrendous!

And those of you selling a cheap cardboard imitation biz-opp don't deserve any sales any way.

Garnet's blog - What is happening etc etc etc could also give some pointers.

TEs Safelists - haven't you noticed that far too many members are treating Apsense like a hybrid of the two?

Would you log on to a site simply to read the ads?

Hey Jeunelle,

Good question, to which I might add: Are any of her signups doing anything? What good are sign ups if they do nothing?

Wow, people, it's certainly not dead in this blog now!

Looks as if we're all having the same problems; posts but no responses.
Can't remember when I last signed up a new member. Maybe there are too
many new social networking sites coming online? We don't have time for
all of them!

Arthur, I agree that postage from the States is horrendous - would be from Australia
too!

My business is ebooks and software, which can all be downloaded online.
I'm in profit with this one, but not making very much, that's for sure.

Too many businesses, not enough buyers, or perhaps it's only the lucky few
who have the knack of making sales, and recruiting/sponsoring members.

Maybe Lyn will give us a few pointers......... :-)

I thought I had just lost my knack... It's not only me!!!..

I do have one program I have been promoting a little more.. An advertising program.. It has been pulling me by adding on downline and as an income opportunity, but other than that, it seems like I am stuck in the mud! At least for now!

And Apsense, I can't seem to get over $2.90..... haha so Pete, I guess we are in the same boat!

To paraphrase Coach Steve

3% active members + 97% inactive members = dire consequences.

The more I look at Apsense the more I have this horrible feeling of déjà vu.

Doesn't it feel a bit like a traffic exchange in here? It seems to me that the only difference is there isn't a timer on the adverts (sorry, blogs) we are asked to view.

Once marketers infest a site, it is lost.

Well well well,

for me it has gone quiet because I am working on my advertising programme and apart from blogs in classifieds, and my Biz Centre , it is a little restrictive here.

If I sent a PM to one of my contacts recommending it, i will probably be reported as a spammer by someone so paranoid that they cant tell the difference between a copy/paste ad and a personal invitation to something I feel might benefit them.

Let it be heard - I DO NOT LIKE SPAM - but the quantity of spam on ApSense is as a result of the system not the member. People dont change - but systems can. And I am far more concerned about the scams that creep in here than the spam.

I am seeing far too much hysteria about spam and not enough hysteria about the number of dodgy programmes promoted in the correct way.

Equally the sometime overzealous enforcement of rules makes me feel that I am in a community run by schoolmarms and not a place where I can participate as a grown up human being. Just a personal view - but the high moral tone adopted by some of the "anti spam" brigade is irritating beyond words.

It seems as if som people want to crush the energy and enthusiasm out of us at times. Everyone has their own styles which makes the community so rich.

Wouldnt it be boring if we were all the same!

A very tiny bit of advice... making more sales is the hardest part of any business, but it's also the easiest part to find excuses for under-- performance.

A whole lot of folks are going to be"down- sizing" their sales efforts for a variety of reasons... And this is the precise moment when you should be going all- out, full steam ahead.

Look at it this way-- Recessionary thinking is going to take some of the competition out of the game... Never fail to take advantage of this fact... Adjust your inventories to the market that you plan to serve, and go at 'em while everybody else is whining about "conditions beyond their control"...

This isn't a pep talk... I actually plan to add more services and better products to meet the needs of my market, along with give-a-ways out the be-hind... I will make sales, and I will teach my market how to buy from me, and make the wisest purchases possible.--Purchases that can help them for the rest of their Lives.... If you have products like that in your arsenal, then it becomes a bit easier to sell no matter what's going on outside...

If one of the products in my arsenal costs $50,000-- but It will save office buildings, schools and the like about 45% on their energy bills-- FOREVER... The initial cost is nothing compared to the long term savings...

Think about that one feature when you go 'Product" hunting, and I'll bet that you can apply it to many other items...

Enough... I think this way when I'm working...

It's back to leisuretime for me! :)

Hi, Jeunelle,

I just read, again, what you said - and I can't believe you said it . . . . . . .

Everyone has their own styles which makes the community so rich.

NO THEY DON'T!!!

Therein lies the problem here and in so many other social sites that have been infested by those who call themselves marketers.

I believe 97% of the members who post blogs here are incapable of creating a style of their own - they can only copy and paste somebody else's style.

If you look round the advertising blogs (nobody else does, ir seems to me) you will see ad after ad identical to ad after ad.

THAT is what kills this sort of community - 97% of blogs have no content of general interest.

Members don't stay when they discover that there is nothing to read or respond to, nor do they bother to try to compete with an avalanche of spam.

Is it beyond the membership to realise that if they post an interesting blog they might get more views to their profile?

If they get more views to their profile, isn't also possible their business centre will also be viewed more often?

If their business centre is viewed more often, might they not get some interest in whatever they are promoting?

Why am I wasting my time explaining the obvious???????

I wonder how many members of Apsense deliberately deny sales to fellow members - could this be why the number of sales is dropping?

A little while ago I posted an ad (something I rarely do) for an advertising widget.

This widget is a free product, though there is an upgrade available for those with many web sites, and creates an interesting panel on a web page that is both eye catching and effective.

The url I used for the ad was unique to Apsense (for no other reason than I didn't advertise it anywhere else).

The unique to Apsense url has received 47 hits with not a single take-up of the offer.

I may be mistaken, but I feel that if someone clicks on a blog that is specifically described as an advert (which mine was) and which is in an advertising category (which mine was) and the product is free (which mine was) then, out of 47 visits, it would be fair to expect at least one person to take up the offer - even if out of sheer curiosity.

Looking at all the affiliate urls I have published, I see that I have now well over 5,300 hits and not a single sign up - ANYWHERE!

I have raised this point in another blog and was advised to cloak my affiliate IDs. This is something I have always done.

Maybe the sales have not stopped or slowed down - the gurus have simply pointed out to people that they can deny affiliates their due commission by going direct (and paying the same price!).

Maybe marketers are such a strange breed that they think it perfectly acceptable to deny you your commission while expecting to earn commissions for themselves.

Dog eat dog! Mean anything to you?
