Why You Should Have a Western Themed Group Date
One of the best ways to have fun when you are a teenager — or for that matter any age — is to have a group date. Now, this doesn't mean simply going to dinner with friends, or meeting up at your favorite hang out. It doesn't matter if you attend one of the nation's boarding high schools or a public school, one way you can do this is by making the date a themed activity that allows you to get to know your date and your friends better.
One theme that has a lot of potential to be fun for everyone from public school kids to those attending boarding high schools, is that of the Wild West or frontier theme. It might sound a little goofy at first, but if done right it will be a fun activity for your entire group. With just a little searching online or in creative apps like Pinterest, you'll find there are a lot of traditional western games that are still done at fairs and rodeos and they don't take very specialized equipment to do at home or in a park with friends.
Putting together the activity doesn't have to be difficult or even cost a lot of money. Games from the Old West were usually simple and done with whatever was readily available. One game you might consider is the Stick Pull. For the Stick Pull, you just need you, your date and a stick that is 2-inches in diameter and 3 to 4-feet long. You sit facing each other, with the soles of your feet touching, legs extended and both people holding on to the stick horizontally in front of you. You then pull on the stick till one person is thrown over or stands up, kind of like a tug of war. Other activities might include leg wrestling, sack races, horse shoes and even roping a fake cow made from a barrel or hay bale.
Of course, no date is truly complete without some food, but even that can be reminiscent of the old West. A quick search of the internet and you will find recipes that are simple enough for everyone from students at boarding high schools to professional chefs. Some of these include raspberry cobbler, bacon potatoes and even something known as John Wayne Casserole. Regardless of if you are a student in one of the country's boarding high schools, or a college student, making a western themed group date will truly be unforgettable.
