What comes to mind when thinking about the Kentucky Derby? Fashion and hygiene come to the top of the list for most, mainly all the crazy hats everyone wears. With everyone packed into the infield party, if someone has bad hygiene it is practically impossible to hide. War

Dressing up horses and their saddles dates back to the start of the Roman Empire and possibly earlier than that. The emperors like Julius Caesar and Marcus Aurelius used horse fashion to show their power. Both men had one of the most beautiful horses of their times and dressed them to show their power. They both had a blanket that they sat on in the famous roman red color with gold highlights. The reins were also covered in gold. Since then, powerful men during wartime, including George Washington, have used horse fashion to show off their power.

Parade

Today, horse fashion is also very prominent in parades. From Fourth of July parades all across the United States to the Bastille Day military parade and every parade in between, horse fashion is one of the things that keeps people coming back. Depending on the parade, some horses are dressed very extravagantly and others the horse just has a flag under the saddle. Some of the horse’s fashion in local parades could even be designed by the local private boarding schools.

Kids

Some of the cutest horse fashion pictures come from kids that dress up with their horse. How could you not share a picture of a youngster matching its horse dressed up as Harry Potter? Halloween has turned into a great time of the year for horse fashion.

Hygiene

Having good hygiene is very important for students at private boarding schools. It also is very important for horses as well. Not keeping up with your horse’s hygiene can leave them being attacked by flies. Keeping a horse clean can be a hard task but it needs to be done consistently. From the hoof to the mane having a clean horse keeps away the flies and lets the horse live a much more enjoyable life.  

Learning about horse fashion and hygiene is only one of the things that could be learned while attending private boarding schools. Horse fashion has been around for centuries and is always changing. Having extraordinary fashionable horses is one thing, but making sure their hygiene is kept up so they can be comfortable while being fashionable is key.
