Tip For Tuesday: The Power Of Commenting In Online Marketing
Blog Commenting Is A Great Way To Build Relationships & There’s A Lot Of Power Behind It…
by Philippe Moisan
Patience is key in online marketing so learn to develop the trait of patience…
One of the best places to apply patience in online marketing is in taking the time to comment. There are so many ways we can do that nowadays:
- On social networks such as Facebook.
- By replying to tweets.
- Articles written on business social networks.
- Blog posts.
- Group discussions on business social networks such as APSense.
- Skype.
Online marketing is not about getting rich quick. Don’t be in a hurry to build your business. The “like” feature is nice on Facebook. Many other sites have adopted it. It can help get some attention to you. But if that’s all you do, after a while it passes under the radar.
How NOT to comment in online marketing
The comments you write can be a powerful way to brand yourself. On the other hand, your online marketing progress will slow to a crawl if you don’t take the time to comment properly. In this day and age, it is absolutely necessary to write meaningful comments. Saying things like:
- Good article.
- Great website.
- Interesting information.
It’s boring, useless, and as such it won’t get noticed, especially since too many online marketing people stop there too.
Of course, don’t put a link in your comment, and don’t even mention something you did. All it does is trying to steal the spotlight from the author’s effort, because it will look like you are advertising something. I’d say the exception is if you praise someone else about the topic of the article, it could be the beginning of a business relationship between the author and that person, and doing that will benefit you too.
About comments on blogs: Are you aware that corporations pay people to comment on every blog they can find, to get as many backlinks as possible? The online marketing world is full of tricks.
Check the comments carefully. Many people write long comments that seem interesting, but it could apply to just about every blog post written since the beginning of the history of man.
Recommendations for comments in online marketing
My first suggestion is to always write the person’s first name. I wrote a blog post on that specific subject. Secondly, write something specific about the author, or about the article itself. If nothing in the article itself grabs your attention, you can check the person’s profile, or better yet, like but not comment.
If you have a WordPress blog, I strongly recomment that you use the CommentLuv plug-in.
In the following video, I explain why.
