The Truth Is Hard To Bear, But It Will Set You Free
I've always thought that the best columns are those that stir the pot a little. They prompt a lot of discussion, which is often beneficial. I'll be the first to admit that many of my columns have created their fair share of controversy. Here I go again.
I haven't been around APSense much lately for a very simple reason. It is, as most of these kind of sites are, by people who have yet to make their first dollar online. Now, before you get your hackles up if you're one of these people (and, most of you are), realize that I'm not criticizing you. I'm just trying to understand.
You go through the same old routine day after day thinking that you will produce a different outcome. The last time I checked this was the definition of insanity. So, what is it about this whole process that makes you keep writing review pages that no one reads, trying to get opt-ins from people who are trying to get opt-ins, joining another campaign for a "Safe" list that is anything but, and generally wasting your time day after day after day.
Is it just that the routine is familiar to you, like the teddy bear and blanket you had when you were a kid? Is that why you refuse to change? Or, perhaps you're just trying to sabotage yourself. I don't know, but I see it all of the time. Let me give you an example.
I have a friend...we'll just call him Fred. Fred and I got to know one another through Fred trying to pitch me on an MLM (those of you who know me can imagine how that went over). I developed a soft spot for Fred and decided to take him under my wing and try to help him earn some money online for the first time. I bought his first domain name he ever owned and gave him free hosting for life. I paid for his first month of autoresponder service. I helped him avoid the mistakes I made by showing him the bad beats from my own playbook. Well, how do you think he's done?
He still spends hours a day in front of worthless traffic exchanges instead of building a website and pumping it straight to the top of Google where you actually get targeted traffic instead of wishing for it. Don't take this as me patting myself on the back, please, but as the great Dizzy Dean said, "It ain't braggin' if'n you can do it."
I am very good at building a site, shipping it to the top of Google, and monetizing it through Adsense and affiliate programs. In fact, I make this challenge to anyone who reads this article. Pick a niche...any niche. It can be frozen buffalo feces in the Antarctic Circle for all I care. Give me a keyword phrase that you want to rank for (in this case perhaps it would be frozen buffalo feces) and I will build a site and have it on Google page one in less than a month. All I ask is that you pick a keyword phrase that gets at least 10,000 local searches a month. That will involve some keyword research, something else I taught Fred to do but he refuses. Too much work, I guess.
I get frustrated by this. I admit that. My time is valuable and when I offer it to people for free and they don't even make an effort my kindness wears thin pretty quick. And, truthfully, a lot of people on APSense fit this bill.
Just the other day I sent an email to my list offering them a fantastic deal on mentoring and free hosting for a website. In essence, I was going to walk them through their first month and help them earn that first dollar. Just for fun, and I do mean that, I decided to copy and paste my email in an article here just to see if I would get any takers. The result was just as I suspected. Excellent response from my list, zero response here.
Which brings me to my final point. Why do I care? My wife and I are doing well, our efforts are bearing fruit and life is good. I really have no personal need to feel good about what I'm doing by trying to teach someone else how to do it. The answer is genuinely that I want to help these people because I feel that they are well-intentioned but misguided. They have the capacity to enjoy the same success that I am, and I want to see them get there.
I guess the old saying is true. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
Wanna know the difference?
The horse is smart enough to know that if he doesn't drink he will die of thirst.
Mmmmmm.......

My dear, I would gladly teach you what I know for free. That's how much respect I have for you. Thank you for your comments. And I promise to get another article for you soon. I've been so very busy. I'll be in touch.

Dang I missed both (not sure if I am on your list) but I missed the article. I would have applied. I earned more than zero but my assets are all reinvested. If these investment were wise, the future will tell. I have some older sites I neglected for quite a while and which I am trying to revive now and sure would benefit from good google rankings.
