On April 30, 2016, Savanna Steed — a 19-year-old from Ogden, Utah — was recently crowned Miss Rodeo Ogden. Steed received this honor after being judged on her performance in personal interviews, public speaking and western equitation in the Miss Rodeo Ogden Pageant. Receiving this honor requires more than just studying. Even if you studied at the best college prep boarding schools, it takes passion to be crowned Miss Rodeo Ogden.

Steed graduated from Fremont High School. She didn’t study at any of the college prep boarding schools, but she definitely has passion. She is pursuing a degree in communicative disorders at Utah State University and her passion is working with disabled youth in an equine-therapy program.

As Miss Rodeo Ogden, Steed will be the face of the 2016 Ogden Pioneer Days where she will appear in events and rodeos. Ogden Pioneer Days will also host the Miss Rodeo Utah Pageant where Steed will represent Ogden and compete for the Miss Rodeo Utah title. The winner of Miss Rodeo Utah Pageant will go on to represent Utah in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant.

Before being crowned Miss Rodeo Ogden, about the title Steed said, “It would be a privilege to represent this iconic tradition as Miss Rodeo Ogden… To be among the elite group of women who have been Miss Rodeo Ogden would be such an honor. These hard-working women have been such an example to me in my life and have had a profound influence on me. I would relish the opportunity to pass forward that example of hard work, community involvement and kindness to others, young and old alike. Being Miss Rodeo Ogden would give me heightened opportunities to do just that.”

Steed is a great example for students studying rodeo and equestrian studies at college prep boarding schools. Congratulations Savanna Steed, and good luck in the upcoming pageant.
