The Booming Of The Stencil Revolution

by Albertde Rio HR Manager

You probably thought you never have and never will have an artistic gene inside you. But all of us appreciate art. We see what is beautiful and good. We just never enhanced it.

Regardless, when it comes to art and beauty, it truly is in the eye of the beholder.  And you do not need to be a professional artist to be creative. You can be creative on your own. There are a lot sites that can help enhance your artistic side, be it painting, crafting, sculpting or stencil.

Stencil comes very handy and most importantly, it is very simple and easy to follow.  As a start, you will need a computer, paints, materials for cutting and cutter.

Making a Work of Art

To start with, Stencil Revolution has some free stencils, drawings and art that you can work on.  It offers simple but remarkable art that you can download and print with a tutorial on how to apply it on your art.

A sample of which is T-shirt printing. We have probably seen a lot of sites that offers step-by-step guide on how to apply an art into a t-shirt. But in this site, not only do they give instructions; it offers the art as well. You can start with a very simple design available in the site. It also gives a tutorial on how to cut your stencils.

You are not limited to just the site’s downloadable designs. You can also make your own design with instructions on how to make a stencil out of your own pictures and designs.

How to cut stencil

We can make our own stencil design using Photoshop with simple steps as indicated in Stencil Revolution. But first, we need to find out how to cut stencils without risking the design.

•  Prepare all the cutting materials; a craft knife, cutting board, stencil design, an acetate or see-through paper or plastic, and tape or tacks to prevent the stencil from slipping.

•  Position the stencil on top of the acetate with 1 inch border. To prevent the stencil and the acetate from slipping, tape or tacks the stencil on the acetate on each sides or around the whole design.

•  Reminder: use a sharp craft knife to cut stencil.  Start with the longest, straightest edge of the stencil. Cut once and press firmly.

•  Assist the stencil and acetate with your free hand, away from the cutting areas, while cutting to prevent from slipping.

•  Turn the stencil around (the whole stencil) to keep the angles consistent.

•  When done, cut the whole design and clean rough edges.  And that is it.

Do not get overwhelmed. Take it one step at a time. Stencil Revolution helps everyone to bring out the artist in you.  Paint your furniture, paint your walls, print your t-shirt, design your own invitations and cards, customize your design with stencil. Set a do-it-yourself project using the stuff you have learned from the site.  So have fun and enjoy the marvelous work of art and go stencil crazy.
