The Best States for Rodeo
Rodeo is one event that epitomizes
American culture and, is as much a part of the United States as apple pie and
baseball. Though rodeo has changed over the years, the same excitement that
spectators felt many years ago still exists today. Anyone wishing to experience
the thrills of rodeo, may not even have to go very far. Rodeo is found in
several different areas of the country, and competitors at boarding high schools and other circuits, are welcome visitors with open arms.
Largest
Rodeo States
Rodeo is a huge thing in many areas of
the country, in fact, it is the official state sport of Texas, South Dakota and
Wyoming. These three states hold rodeo competitors all year long and have
strong legacies for the competition. The first state that officially endorsed
rodeo was Texas. Texas is synonymous with the American cowboy, and rodeo in
Texas has been a long-standing tradition. Several rodeos are found throughout
the state, the largest being the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. There are
also smaller rodeos like the XIT Rodeo and Reunion in Dalhart, home to the
world’s largest free barbecue.
South
Dakota
Boarding high schools and cities hold
rodeos in more places than just Texas, the next of the three top rodeo states
is South Dakota. South Dakota is located on the northern plains, an area in
which the population is sparse but the traditions are big. South Dakota also
has a reputation for hosting many cowboys, and rodeo competitors. The state
holds a number of rodeos from educational institutions and other circuits.
Wyoming
The third official rodeo state is
Wyoming. Though there may be few rodeos held by boarding high schools, this
western state is about as cowboy as can be. Wyoming is rugged, creating a
perfect setting for a rodeo, and probably the most well-known rodeos are held
in Cheyenne and Cody during the summer. Other towns like Jackson hold rodeos
during the summer as well and makes for an unforgettable experience. Whether
visiting the outstanding public lands or taking in the local rodeos, Wyoming is
a state like no other.
Rodeos put on by boarding high schools
and other circuits, offer the chance for spectators to learn something new.
There is never a dull moment at a rodeo competition, and the listed states will
each provide an awesome experience in more ways than one. It is a true American
experience, one that will hopefully continue for many years to come.
