For centuries, people from all walks of life have enjoyed music. Music has long been a way for people to escape the daily struggles of reality and dive into a world of bliss and happiness. It brings people relief and joy every day. That being said, music is a beneficial part of everyone’s lives, and people in boarding high schools and elsewhere have the opportunity to incorporate music in more ways than ever before.

While listening to music can bring about pleasure, learning to play a musical instrument or learning to sing can bring all sorts of health benefits. Those who play musical instruments have healthy brains. An article from Psychology Today talks about the benefits of music training in children. It states that children under the age of seven benefit greatly from musical training because of its ability to strengthen brain function. Tough not a surprising discovery, the article goes on to talk about the ways music training helps the brain.

Students in boarding high schools and other institutions who are trained in music have advantages over other students. Psychology Today mentions that music training increases the ability to use hearing, sight and touching senses. People with a background of music training may be able to pick up more information through the senses because of this. Another point it mentions is that music training in children can help impact adult brain anatomy in a positive way. It also says that training before the age of seven has the greatest impact.

People in boarding high schools may very well have music classes that they attend. Music education is a great way to enhance the music training experience. While music training may focus on one specific area, music education can help highlight other areas of music. Psychology Today mentions how training can improve the circulatory system in the brain and improves connectivity. This can lead to many advantages later in life. When there is better connectivity in the brain, there is a better chance at grasping and understanding new material. Basically, in a simple explanation, music training makes people smarter.

It is not surprising how beneficial music training can be. Since music brings people joy and happiness every day, there is little doubt that learning music makes one stronger mentally. A strong brain leads to other areas of health, and boarding high schools have the chance to embrace music as a way to lead students on to success in all areas.
