JEE Main didn’t go well? Aim for BITSAT 2016
This time Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main was conducted on 3rd,
9thand 10th April, 2016. First the pen and paper based
exam was held, followed by the computer based exam for two days.
Lakhs of engineering aspirants appeared for the exam as it
dictates admission to the NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. Moreover it also governs
admission to the IITs and ISM Dhanbad as only the top 1.5 rank holders of JEE
Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced which forms the admission criteria
of the premier institutes.
Most of the aspirants found the exam to be moderate. Out of all
the sections, Mathematics was the toughest as it was lengthy. Those who could not perform well in the exam
needn’t be disheartened and can aim for the next big exam – BITSAT 2016.
BITSAT is the entrance examination conducted by Birla Institute of
Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani to carry out admissions to undergraduate
programs offered by BITS Pilani, Goa and
Hyderabad.
If a candidate had prepared well for JEE Main, clearing BITSAT
should not be tough. As per previous trends BITSAT’S level of difficulty is
lower than that of JEE Main. This is
because most of the questions are based on class XII syllabus.
Here are some tips to ace the exam:
1) Going through
NCERT text books and understanding all the concepts properly is most
recommended, especially for Chemistry. Along with NCERT books some additional
books are also suggested by academicians. These are The Pearson Complete Guide
to the BITSAT (English) by One Learn Education, Comprehensive Guide to BITSAT
Online Test – with Mosk Test CD (English) by Disha Experts and Practice Papers
BITSAT 2015 PB 8th Edition by G K P.

comprises of 150 questions that have to be solved in 3 hours. Speed and
accuracy are the important aspects of acing the exam. One should be thorough
with all the important formulae to avoid the lag in solving questions.
3) Try to attempt
easy questions first in the exam – the ones that that take the least time to
solve. When more number of questions are solved initially, one feels confident
as the exam progresses.
