How do CNA and CNA 2 differ

Well, a question may arise in your mind that when both are termed as nursing assistants, then how CNA and CNA 2 are being differentiated in healthcare industry. Becoming a CNA 2

While completion of CNA certification exam provides entitlement to enroll in CNA 2 coursework, most of the states are accepting only CNAs with minimum one year’s working knowledge in a healthcare setting as certified nursing assistant.

CNA 2 training program is also separated in two sessions, out of which the first one concentrates in theoretical part through classroom lessons and video learning. The classroom session follows clinical course as well as direct patient caring. Both sessions are programmed for certain hours training whereas duration of such timing differs in between states.

In continuation of training, you will be taught on checking of blood glucose level, managing oral suction, administering oxygen level for a patient, method of dressing and wound care, thorough sterilization process, elderly acute care and many more. On completion of CNA II training, you will be required to appear in state competency test exam. This will enable you to acquire CNA 2 certification and registering your name in Nursing Registry.

Job Description  

Being in CNA 2 position, your job profile will diverge in terms of the healthcare facility where you will be working. Individuals attached with hospital settings or nursing homes as certified nursing assistant II are supposed to be concerned about unstable, disabled and elderly patients and they need to directly to physicians.

CNA 2 needs to assist patients to come out of different drug or alcohol addictions in rehabilitation units. They need to provide necessary medication and physiotherapy enabling them to lead a healthy life. You will have to look after patients suffering from mental problems, if employed in any dementia care unit. Most of nurses working in dementia care units are found to perform as specialists in psychiatrists as well speech psychoanalyst.

In home healthcare you need to more skillful in absence of registered nurse or physicians. You should be liable to deal with all situation and emergencies in caring elderly patients at their own home.

In nursing career ladder CNA 2 are positioned next to CNA. To become CNA 2, candidates need to go through higher education in nursing and acquire sufficient clinical knowledge.
