What is the QuickBooks Error Code H505?

The QuickBooks error H505 can occur when you are trying to open a company file that has been created or saved on another computer through QuickBooks and is unable to open it because QuickBooks fails to connect to the server. This may be because your computer system’s firewall may be blocking QuickBooks from accessing its servers to locate the requested file. This usually happens when host configurations are incorrect.

What Can be Done for H505 QuickBooks Error Fix?

To resolve this error, you will have to follow these steps.

Step 1: Go to the start menu and then open Control Panel on your PC.

Step 2: From there go to Search Firewall settings from where you will click on the option to Allow a Program through Firewall.

Step 3: Select Add Program and Add QuickBooks 20xx to the exception list.

Step 4: Apply changes and then restart your computer.

Step 5: Then, open the QuickBooks application on your computer and go to Check file, then Utilities and then choose the option to Stop Hosting Multi-User Configuration. You will have to do the same for the other computer which has the file as well.

Step 6: Then turn on Hosting by File again on both computers and restart QuickBooks.

Step 7: If this still doesn’t work, then you will have to create a new file on the hosting computer and then share it through your network.

Step 8: This time you will have to grant access to Windows to allow permission for file sharing.

Step 9: Then you’ll copy the .qbw file to the folder you created and then copy your company file in the multi-user mode.
