Few Methods to Resolve QuickBooks Error H505
Solution 1: Make use of QuickBooks File Doctor
Install and Launch the file doctor of QuickBooks.
Give it some time to solve the issue. This will automatically troubleshoot the multi-user and H series Errors.
Solution 2: Check the Hosting and Services
The first step is to check the services.
Ensure that the “QBCFmonitor” and “QuickBooksDBXX” services are in working condition:
Click the “Start” or “Windows” button.
Press the keys “Windows+R” to launch the Run box
Type “MSC” & click on Enter
Find “QuickBooksDBXX services” in the windows of services.
This can be possible that it will not show the “QuickBooksDBXX” services:
Ensure that the server has DBSM of QuickBooks installed.
Launch QuickBooks in case the user operates an entire program on the host. Finally, confirm that the service is enabled by checking it.
Verify if the service status and startup type are started by launching “QuickBooksDBXX.”
Click on the tab “Recovery.”
Lastly, save changes.
Check the hosting
Launch “QuickBooks Software” on every hosting system
Select “Utilities” from the file menu
If it shows the option “Host multi-user operation,” this system cannot host a company’s file.
Otherwise, choose the option “Stop hosting Multi-user Access” if it is visible.
Select the option “File must be closed window” from the menu “Company.”

Solution 3: Edit the server file
Press the keys “Windows+R” to launch the Run Box
Enter “cmd” and click on Enter to launch the window “Command prompt.”
Next, type the text “ipconfig/all” & press the enter key to execute the command.
Lastly, note down somewhere “IP address and hostname.” This process must be done on each system providing multi-user.
Then edit the host file of the Windows.
Close the QuickBooks Software and go to the start tab.
Then head to the “This PC” option and operate C:\Windows \ Syswow64\ Drivers\Etc.
Now locate the hidden folders and files if the user isn’t able to search for the folder of windows inside “This PC.”
Go to the “View tab” & select “Hidden items.” It will prompt the files that are hidden from the user.
Choose to open the hidden files by right-clicking them and operating them using notepad.
Then enter the computer name and IP address.
Lastly, save changes and try opening QuickBooks software in Multi-user again.
Solution 4: Modify the Location Settings of the QuickBooks Folder
Start by making a new folder inside the server system
After creating the folder, verify providing entrance permission to the file of the company
Copy & Paste the file “.qbw” into a new folder
