6 Solubility
Genuine methionine is freely soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide and water, insoluble in alcohol and ether. Specific detection methods are as follows;
adding about 5% sample into 100 ml distilled water, and shaking several times, after about 2 to 3 minutes, if the solution was clear without precipitation, then the sample is true methionine; If it’s muddy or has precipitate or turbidity floating then it’s fake product.
