How to distinguish genuine and fake methionine?--serial 1
Methionine is one of the essential amino acid for animals. Generally,the adding quantity in animal feed is 0.1 to 0.2%, and have apparent efficiency in increasing egg production rate, promoting animal growth, increasing meat rate of pigs and improving feed utilization, reducing costs. Since methionine is expensive, in recent years, fake, shoddy methionine are flooding the market, resulted in significant losses in feed industry. According to my experiences, i want to teach you the way of distinguishing genuine and fake.
1,packaging
Regular manufacturers should be accompanied with label on the packages, which printed product names, raw material composition, ingredient analysis valuation, net weight, lot number, production date, shelf life, factory name and address, product standards code and certificate, and shall also be indicated production license number, ratification trademark and implementation standards. Imported products must have imported products registration license, the packaging should be sealed tight, no damage. If you find bags and packaging are rough texture thin and brittle, illegible or fall off, no such formal manufacturers’ packaging requirements, can be judged as fake products.
2 visual identification
Methionine is a single amino acid by hydrolysis or chemical synthesis, usually appear as off-white crystalline powder or flake under normal light reflected light. Fake Methionine mostly are pure withe , light white or gray. In normal light, have no reflected light or scattered reflected light, and little or minimal crystalline. Using Aluminum or plastic insert dl-methionine and turns a few minutes, then pull out, real methionine will tend to have electrostatic interaction, and regularly adsorbed on the surface; while fake methionine haven’t this phenomenon.
3 feel discrimination
True methionine have creamy feel, no rough feel; but fake Met general feel rough, not creamy.
4 odor Identification
Genuine Methionine has really thick stench, nearly pungent smell, taste like a little sweet, no astringent sense; but fake methionine have no sweet or other smell.
