The goal of any type of body contouring or treatment is to not only help you to look better but also to help you feel better about yourself. There is a multitude of different body contouring procedures available that cover everything from your head and face down to your feet and toes.  A couple of popular procedure options are facial resurfacing in Maryland along with coolsculpting treatment.

Facial Resurfacing in Maryland – the Technique and Tips

Often referred to as a laser peel or a laser skin resurfacing, the facial resurfacing in Maryland is available at several med spas and plastic surgery facilities.  When considering this procedure please review the following:

• There are different types of lasers used for this procedure. The most common is a CO2 laser.  There is a newer treatment available now using an erbium laser.  There are risks with both lasers for skin damage, but the risk is slightly lower with the newer erbium laser.
• The treatment is designed to remove the top layers of skin that reveal and display the most damage, wrinkles, discoloration, or uneven pigment.  Once the problem layers are removed a newer layer of skin is exposed. This treatment is also used to help remove acne scarring or other types of superficial scars.
• Facial resurfacing does not always completely remedy a skin condition.  Some scarring may not be completely removed, and some wrinkles may remain or return.
• Some skin types can have an adverse reaction to laser treatments.  Reactions can be rashes, increased discoloration, burning or even scars.  Be sure to consult with a dermatologist before having this treatment.
• Thousands of successful procedures for facial resurfacing in Maryland have been performed. Many people of all skin types and age ranges are pleased with the results. Skin tone can be more even, scarring is removed, damaged areas are restored, and wrinkles can be eliminated using this treatment.
• Pay close attention to the directions from your dermatologist or the person performing the procedure.  It is important that you have a good skin care ritual that will help the newly exposed layer of skin to stay healthy and maintain its condition.  Some of the instructions may be to use a mild soap or plain water when washing your face the first week or two after treatment.  You may also need to restrict use of certain types of lotions or makeup after the treatment.
• There are alternatives that are not as risky. These include microdermabrasion, chemical peels, facial scrubs, masks, and spa treatments. These options can remove dead skin cells, exfoliate and help the skin to look healthier.
• Recovery time for the treatments can vary by patient but are typically around one or two weeks.

Coolsculpting Treatment for the Rest of your Body

For people who have certain areas of their body that have fat or cellulite build up, coolsculpting treatments have become quite popular. This procedure has recently been approved by the FDA and is available in Maryland and other areas of the country.

• A non-invasive alternative to liposuction
• Using paddles placed on certain areas of the body, fat cells are cooled to around 40 degrees and kept at that temperature for thirty to sixty minutes.  This permanently kills the fat cells, which can then be absorbed and disposed of by the body.
• This procedure should not be considered as an alternative to weight loss, but instead consider it a treatment for specifically difficult areas. Patients are encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes diet and exercise.
• Areas for treatment can include arms, stomach, back, buttocks, thighs and calves.

No matter what part of the body, carefully research the pros and cons to make sure you find the ideal treatment for you.
