In the present scenario, an event management app has become an integral part of any conference or event. Whether it's a one day event, or the event is going to be held over a weekend, conference planners always make it a point to develop mobile application for events. Studies show that 80% of attendees prefer to check information through mobile apps and they expect that your event will have a mobile application. According to them, it should not only replace the conventional printed programs, but also add some additional modules for being digital. Keeping these facts in mind, event planners never fail to develop a customized app for all the events they organize.

 

Features to include in an event mobile application

Since the ultimate purpose of developing a conference app is to improve attendee experience, these apps should include features that benefit them. At the same time, an event application should include features that cater to the requirements of the organizers and sponsors as well. If you are not sure what features to include in a mobile app, here are some suggestions -

 

·         A detailed schedule – Since you want to keep the attendees informed about the event, the app should include a detailed schedule. All the events and sessions should be listed in the program that they can attend. If there are certain sessions that have restricted attendance, or require pre-registration and an extra fee, don't include those in the schedule. The time for all the sessions should be clearly mentioned along with the location.

·         Presenter information – The event app should include information about the presenters. Consider including the bios and photos of the presenters so that attendees get to know about them. This will also ensure that they get the desired attention from attendees. The app should include a feature that enables one to download Power Points  files and other relevant documents. 

·         Trade show floor map – This is a must have feature for an event application. This map will make it easier for attendees to walk the floor and find an exhibitor. It will get even better if an attendee can select a booth from the listings and get to know the exact location of that booth.

·         Surveys – A good mobile app should include features like surveys and session polls. This will help you get responses from attendees. Apart from ensuring better engagement with them, it will also help you understand what they think of the event and how it can be better. Keep their feedback in mind and set further plans. You can also tie the survey to the event's description in the schedule of attendees. Thus, it will be easier for them to find and fill out the survey. You can use the messaging or push notification feature to remind people about filling up the form when the event concludes. In this way you will definitely get a higher response rate.
