Explain PRP Hair Restoration And Its Effectiveness
by Andrew Martin Health ConsultantSimilar to other medical procedures, hair transplants are constantly
evolving. There are numerous developments underway that aim to improve the
results of hair transplants.
A minimally invasive surgical procedure called a hair transplant involves
moving hair follicles from the donor area to the bald area of the recipient.
The availability of hair density at the DHT resistant areas is used to
determine the donor area. The back and sides of the head, as well as body
hairs, are the most typical donor sites. Hair follicle regeneration at the
recipient bald site is not a goal of hair transplant surgery; it is purely a
restorative procedure. It is the only procedure that provides results that are
both permanent and natural-looking.
What
is the biostimulated or PRP hair transplantation process?
The PRP injection
therapy is added to the standard procedure in the bio stimulated hair
transplant to promote the growth of the implanted hair follicles.
The following are the
steps in a PRP hair restoration:
1. Local anesthesia is
administered at both the donor and recipient sites.
2. Hair follicles are
harvested from the donor area based on hair density.
3. Slitting procedure
for recipient site preparation.
4. Hair follicles are
transplanted at the recipient site into the ready-made slits.
5. Injections of PRP
therapy, a component of the bio stimulated procedure
6. Instructions
following a hair transplant
7. Follow-up and
additional PRP injection therapy appointments
What
is platelet-rich plasma, or PRP?
Blood cells called
platelets are essential for the blood clotting process and the healing of any
wounds or incisions.
The first generation
platelet concentrate, or platelet rich plasma (PRP), is made from your own
blood. Your own blood is processed and used where it is most useful to promote
growth and natural healing. PRP contains a high concentration of growth
factors, which create a favourable environment for cell growth wherever it is
desired. PRP was first utilized in the 1980s and is currently used practically
everywhere due to its many advantages, but it is mostly used to speed up the
healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints.

Procedure
for PRPtherapy
After injecting your own
blood, PRP is prepared. The technique entails three steps of preparation, which
are as follows:
First, 30–40 cc of
blood are drawn from the patient's arm and spun for 10 minutes in a centrifuge.
By rapidly rotating at a high speed of 3000 rotations per minute,
centrifugation separates the components by separating the molecules of
different densities.
Step 2: After
centrifugation, the test tube contains three stratified, separated blood
components:
a)
Top
most layer: platelet poor plasma
b)
Middle
layer: platelet rich plasma
c)
Last
layer: red blood cells
In the third step,
platelet-rich plasma is gathered in a syringe and injected directly into the
hair follicles. The lengthy method involves administering injections around
every half inch over the area of thinning hair for the treatment of hair loss
or around the freshly transplanted hair follicles after hair transplant.
How
appointments for PRP therapy are scheduled?
Three injection
appointments spread over a period of 4-6 weeks make up PRP injection therapy.
After then, the maintenance phase, which is supposed to happen once every 4-6
months, starts.
PRP
therapy Cost:
When compared to other
developed countries, PRP therapy is a very economical way to treat hair loss in
India. In industrialized countries, the price ranges from $500 to $4000
depending on the clinics, in contrast to Delhi where it ranges from 10,000 to
12,000 INR. Due to the high quality and low cost of PRP therapy, many
international citizens travel to India to take advantage of the process.
