Coconut Oil Helps Losing Weight
Coconut Oil - a by-product of coconut tree is much useful in losing weight.
Coconut oil can help lose weight. Although coconut oil is made up of saturated fats, these are medium chain saturated fats. These type of fatty acids are easily absorbed by the cells for fuel, and thus are not stored in the body as fats. This increases the body’s metabolism. Several studies have shown that people who were made to consume coconut oil had their metabolism increased by 50%. Because of this, the body has more sources of energy, allowing for increased physical activity. This increased activity helps in burning fats and losing weight.
Moreover, coconut oil aid in weight loss by slowing down digestion. This results to a person feeling fuller after eating, and thus may require less ‘snacking’ in between meals. Other than this, coconut oil can also help patients with diabetes. Diabetes is one of the most debilitating diseases in the world. Worldwide, it is estimated that more than 300 million are inflicted with this disease.
Diabetes is chronic condition wherein the pancreas produce insufficient or no insulin. Symptoms of this condition include increased urination, thirst and hunger, as well as increased blood sugar level. Studies have shown that coconut oil has the ability to improve the condition of patients with type II diabetes (insufficient insulin production or impaired insulin receptors). The fatty acids contained in coconut oil can improve the pancreas ability to produce insulin. Likewise, because coconut oil also increases the body’s metabolism, this results to increased affinity of glucose to cells, thereby lessening the demands on the pancreas to produce more insulin.
Coconut can help treat psoriasis as well. Psoriasis is a chronic condition characterized by silvery scales and red patches on the skin caused by excessive accumulation of dead skin cells in the body. Usually, these scaly patches can be seen on elbows, knees and even scalp. Coconut oil is deemed helpful in treating psoriasis because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
Patients may either consume 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil regularly or apply it directly to the areas affected. Next is, coconut oil helps improve thyroid dysfunctions. Thyroid dysfunctions can be classified into two: hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is an increased production of thyroid resulting to an abnormally speedy metabolism, heat intolerance and poor exercise capacity. Hypothyroidism, on the other hand, results from insufficient thyroid hormone production resulting to slow metabolism, weight gain and increased fatigue. Coconut oil has been shown to be beneficial for patients who are suffering from hypothyroidism. So it can be seen that coconut oil which is a by-product of the coconut tree, has many great uses when it comes to treating health disorders.
