Being a teenager can be difficult at times, especially when it comes to finding friends and being social. However, you should realize that developing good social and communication skills, can shape and change the course of your life. Regardless of whether you attend one of the country's boarding high schools or a public high school, you should consider participating in theater during to help you develop socially.

Become Social

If you have ever felt as though talking with people is difficult, or you don't feel comfortable in groups, perhaps the next class you should take is a beginning drama class. Think about it, drama can help you practice social interactions in a situation that allows for mistakes to be made. True when you see a play or perform in a play you don't want to mess up, but from boarding high schools to public middle schools, there is a lot of effort that goes into making a play happen and part of that is messing up.

Become Articulate

During the course of rehearsing your lines, whether in boarding high schools or even in a local play, you are given a wonderful opportunity to learn to be articulate. Many plays, especially more modern ones, are written in a voice that sounds natural. By observing, learning and even modifying lines, you can begin to understand the way people communicate better. Additionally, practicing with your fellow actors can help you practice social skills.

Break Out Of Being Shy

Like any new skill, breaking free from the bonds of shyness is going to take time. However, by putting yourself in a situation that is outside your comfort zone, you will begin to make progress in overcoming fear and shyness. The truth is you will mess up from time to time and you will still do some things that are foolish, but that shouldn't deter you from progressing. The truth is that everyone in the school is foolish, they just don't realize it yet. But when you make an effort to improve a skill, you are not being foolish, and people will begin to notice.

By participating in drama and theater, you will also find a confidence that you never knew you had. Think of your favorite actors and actresses and the confidence they exude, this confidence is no accident. Whether you are in a middle school or one of the country's boarding high schools, when you act, you will discover the confidence to be great, try new things and leave your shell behind.
