Johan Djourou, an ex-Arsenal player states he is pleased to restart the games again with Neuchatel Xamax after being off-loaded by the Sion club in a COVID-19 pay row.

Johan Djourou is an Ivory Coast defender and used to play for the Arsenal sides for ten straight years until he left in 2014. He was among the list of those players who were ditched by the Sion Football Club in March in an emergency measure.

At that time, Sion decided to pay a reduced wage to nine of its players in a struggle to decrease their cost during the novel coronavirus epidemic, discharging those who didn’t seem able to comply with the timelines to accept the new conditions.

Christian Constantine, the Chief of the club, defends his action, while John Djourou and Alex Song- his fellow Gunner youngster- insisted later that they would go to court for this.

Though now, Djourou has now made his way to the new team after joining Neuchatel Xamax, he will be playing the games right away after the Swiss Super League restarts next month.

He posted on a social media that Today is a good day for everyone as football is returning, and he is looking forward to this exciting and thrilling new challenge with Xamaxfcs.

Meanwhile, Xamax has also welcomed both Djourou and Xavier Kouassi, former Sion star, into their team. Get the biography of Samuel Ballet from Swiss League here.

The club states that Neuchatel Xamax is happy to declare the arrival of Johan Djourou and Xavier Kouassi to face the new challenges that will happen in summer.
Of course, between June and August, the Swiss’ one of the top-tier clubs would play 13 league games and maybe two more play-offs, if they qualified.

The young Ivory Coast talent has appeared for 76 times for the international side of Switzerland and capped for more than 100 times for the Gunners in the Arsene Wenger era.
