An era then to now : Asia Cup 2016

The Asia Cup is basically T20 International cricket tournament that is being held in Bangladesh. It is men's one day international and T20 International Cricket Tournament. It was started in 1893 as a measure taken by the Asian Cricket Council to promote goodwill among Asian countries. The first tournament was held in Sharjah in 1984.Also due to strained cricketing relations with Sri Lanka, India was not allowed to play the tournament in 1986.Not only this Pakistan was also abstained from playing the 1990-91 tournament due to maintaining strained cricketing relations with India. These slight political issues grew bigger between India and Pakistan thereby leading to cancellation of tournament in 1993.Due to all these issues there was an official announcement made by the ACC that the tournament will officially be held from 2008 onwards.

 Hence it started on 24th February and will end by 6th march. This is the 13th Asian cup and the fifth one to take place in Bangladesh. The teams that will participate in this tournament include Bangladesh, SriLanka, India, Pakistan and also the ICC associate member The United Arab Emirates that basically qualified from a qualifier played from 19-22 February 2016.After the downsizing of Asian Cricket Council in 2015, ICC took charge that the Asia Cup from 2016 will be held on rotational basis between One Day International and T20 international format. Hence this year the Asia Cup will be the first event to be played in T20I format. This tournament is basically a way to create friendly relations between the Asian Countries and also to help players show their talent. This tournament requires a lot of hard work and practise by every team so as to help their homeland reach the winning destination. The competition is tough and the teams participating in this is no less as well.

There are a lot of new players being added to the teams here. As it is visible that Buvneshwar Kumar was added to the India's team as a replacement for Mohammad Shami.Also Parthiv Patel has been added as a back-up for M.S.Dhoni.Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh who was injured during the match with Sri Lanka has been replaced by Tamim Iqbal.So all the players need to gear up with their performance as this is the best opportunity to showcase their inbuilt talent.
