Ever had this scenario – Your family is sitting around your Phoenix home wondering what to do. The Children want to do something, but parents are sure what to do? How about a night out with the family that will fit your budget perfectly? Head out to the Phoenix Children’s Museum for free family nights each first Friday of the month all of 2011. The museum, located at the corner of 7th Street and Van Buren is a colorful and cheerful place for kids 0-10 years old right in downtown Phoenix. There’s even parking right on site so you can have a hassle free trip.

Target will sponsor the open museum nights which will be offered in 2011 on April 1, May 6, June 3, July 1, August 5, September 2, October 7, November 4 and December 2. From six until ten pm on these special nights, the museum will be allowing full access to families at no charge.

The Children's Museum of Phoenix is located in the 70,000 square foot historic Monroe School building, whose historical beauty would be reason enough to visit. But it’s also central to many other downtown activities and destinations such as the US Airways Center, Chase Field, the Civic Center, and The Arizona Science Center. So plan to make a day of it.

This is not a hands-off, serious place where touching is not allowed. Every exhibit is designed with children in mind. The exhibits are all hands-on and invite children to touch, inspire their minds, use their muscles and spark their imaginations. From art projects to green living the museum is there to educate and inform while also entertaining both children and parents.

Kids are always encouraged to climb on the safe and sturdy climber, get messy in the art center and even take a class with local experts.

The museum is currently seeking donations of blue jeans for a new exhibit. So if you’ve got extras at home, bring them in. They can be in any size and condition, as long as they are clean.
