Phoenix is Haven For Foodies
Arizona may be known for its bountiful sun, but those who like to dine outside of their Phoenix homes
know that it is also known for its many world class restaurants,
wineries, and art exhibits. The Devoured PHX Culinary Classic is a
celebration of Phoenix and Arizona's savory food, wine, and fine arts on
March 12 and March 13th. It is an annual event hosted by the Phoenix
Museum of Art, Local First Arizona, and R Entertainment Co. Locavores
and foodies will appreciate the talents of the region?s best chefs,
restaurateurs, vintners, and local food producers. For people who like a
more hands on food experience, there will be art seminars and
demonstrations by culinary talents.Experiencing the culinary delights that Phoenix has to offer could take more than several weeks considering that nearby Scottsdale, Arizona hosts a three-day Fine Art and Wine Festival in early March shortly before the Devoured PHX Culinary Classic.
The West of the annual Western Culinary Festival takes place in Phoenix, Arizona, in early April. It has become the Southwest?s top culinary arts destination and innovative food experience. It is held at the Phoenix Art Museum and features the Chefs? Invitational Grand Tasting for Arizona?s best chefs of all stripes.
Phoenix is not the barren Southwestern desert that many people picture. It?s sunny climate make it a locavores' dream, especially for those interested in heritage and native foods, such as mesquite, chile, churro lamb, squash, saguaro blossoms, and agave. Local slow food and native food organizations work with local restaurants and agriculture producers to create fresh, local dishes. The Desert Marigold School is a Phoenix charter school that has a 5,000 square foot garden and fully sustainable outdoor kitchen for hands-on learning.
Phoenix is well-known for its authentic Native American culinary dishes at restaurants such as the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa which incorporates food traditions from the Pima and Maricopa tribes. The Fry Bread House offers simpler, traditional fried bread as a main dish or ?Navajo tacos? desert topped with honey.
Phoenix offers food for everyone from hand-raised Western beef to vegan or vegetarian dishes based on modern or traditional ingredients. Whatever taste you crave at the moment, Phoenix is sure to deliver.
