My thoughts about APSense Talents
I think the idea is great, both for people that want to earn from their talents, people that need to outsource tasks and for all APSense members that now can earn money simply by pasting the code for the APSense widget on their site.
However I have some reservations for some of them. In regards of determination of quality of service and payments.
I.e.
The admins of APSense review purchased talents that are rated unsufficient. Since I know most of them pretty wel I know they are all integer persons that will perform this task in a fair way. I would interest me to know what criteria they use to determin if a bad rated talent is legitimate or not. It seems to me there are a lot of talents in a grey area, also because the descriptions are in my opnion often poor or incomplete. I would not like to be in an admins shoes for this particular task.
However many talents are only 5 dollar so it is a small risk to take to purchase one. It is often also a question of trust. The risk will become smaller when the service is online longer and there are more ratings.

I.e.
- translations: suppose i would purchase a translation from English to Chinese? I would not be able to determin if this translation is correct. LOL it would have to ask Wincer to proof read. Unless the persons that offers is a certified translater. Anyone can make translations with an online translator. I can't see the difference between a translation made by a person or a machine if it is a language i do not know at all. If I would put a bad translation on my site, this would reflect negative on me.
- designwork: when somebody creates a design for somebody else, regardless a banner or a website, the designer puts time and effort in it. But taste is a personal thing. The one who purchased the design can say: I don't like it. Which would not be fair to the designer.
I think therefore in design jobs that are offered, designers must write clearly what information they need from the person that want to purchase this talent like colours, size, theme, text, etcetera. The designer should in my opinion state his/her visions what happens if the purchaser does not like the design.

Activity points is a boring name. I would prefer Loyalty Points, the meaning would be clear

@Dave I agree activity points would be a better name.

" you could be rewarding a serial spammer or pest that has earned those hp making a nuisance of themselves"
Someone acting like that probably would not be able to sell Talents anyway

then the name of the points needs to be changed to activity points instead of honor points as they currently give a false impression that the person your dealing with is honorable and has earned that status through being trustworthy in his postings and dealings with other members, you can't price a talent on how active a person has been because you could be rewarding a serial spammer or pest that has earned those hp making a nuisance of themselves

Having many honor points means the person has been very active at APSense. I think that's the point. Talents is about APSense members selling their skills, so those that are more active can sell for higher prices, cause they show they care about APSense members.
As for judging about value, the only way to do that is by ordering the Talent, then if you're not satisfied, you cancel and you put a thumbs down. Then the member has to convince others that he is genuine, not just someone who tries t

I can understand Wincers reasoning for using the honor points as a guide since he comes from a region where honor is everything, however in the western world honor means very little to some and even less to others so there needs to be another way to gauge the value of a service or product

F.i I have a friend that writes seo reports for websites. He is an expert with years of experience. The normal price is at least 250 due to the amount of time the create such a report. However because he has not many honor points he can not list it here for more than 10 dollar.

@Paula- I agree with you.

I do not like the connection between honor points and the price that can be asked. I think is should related to the quality and value of the service/product.

I hope the Talents service doesn't become a fiverr competitor, i.e. only $5 talents find customers

Good Post Paula...
I bought a talent and it was well worth the 5 bucks I paid for it.
I am certain that I will be asking this gentleman for help again.
Although I didn't purchase this talent it was indeed the best one I have seen so far, parson me while I ad-lib how it was worded.
"I will listen to your problems.... and I know how to keep a secret!"
Gotta love it!
Not sure how many people have taken her up on her offer but at least she was able to think of a talent to share...

It is very early days in the life of Talents, and we will have to see what direction this takes as more of the Talents are taken up.
A short time ago I did a quick check of the list of micro-jobs shown in the popularity tab that indicated less than 10 jobs have been taken up and completed. And one of those was taken up twice.
It will be interesting to see what happens to many of the lower priced micro-jobs when the seller needs to pay the activation fee after the introductory period.

Dave, I believe that an escrow system is in place for Talents. The How It Works page states: ?Buyer pays for your talent and we hold it in escrow until the job is completed.
When the job is completed, if the purchaser is happy with the job they then notify of completion and the funds are released into the seller's APSense account. In the case of a dispute, the decision about the release of funds is made by admins.

@wincer maybe you could look at an escrow system for talents where the payment for the task is held by apsense pending release by the purchaser or determination by an admin that the task has been suitably performed, this would then give both parties some protection when hiring a talent or accepting work.

Hey Paula, You have raised some valuable points of view and brought some good feedback to this new service. Although because of some new project I am involved with I have not yet tested the ground with talents,i do think that Wincer is on the right road with this. We all like to know that what we are getting is from an honest user and points that were made by Andy Zeus Anderson were good Input as it would be good to have access to feedback for retrospective sales and offers.
Great post Paula I

@Wincer Having honor points is no guarantee for quality. There are members with lots of honor points I do not trust and members with less honor points that i do trust. I would base my decision rather on my own observations than on honor points. In case i would want to buy a more expensive talent.

I think a buyer's rating (in a scale of 1-5) of the seller is useful. If a buyer is satisfied with the seller's job, the seller's rating increase by time so others can assess that person's ability to do the work. Expect honorable members opinion.

Ya That is good thing but I thought there should be a talent search page. where people can search there talent like what they can do or not. In this world there are lots of people they don't know what they can do?, what talent they got? I think that what about others I don't know...
