What Are We Doing Here Anyways? Really?

by Not Here just want my account deleted

I am having a little difficulty figuring out just exactley what APSense really is, what it's going to be?

We're a Business Social network..right?  Get paid to Promote your business...used to be "the TOP business social network"

Is it now simply a place to post a profile and some ads?  It seems like there is very little networking taking place.  I mean, if this is just a place to post ads, and people just come here to advertvise...who's gonna read the advertising?  My opinion, if this is simply a place to advertise the words business social network might as well be removed...because it seems like all that is happening is people are joining, setting up a profile, some ads..maybe a blog and then they are gone!  And they never see the REAL potential that some of us know to exist.

Perhaps if we took a better look at the words "business social network" it would shed a little light on my issue...as defined by webster's dictionary:

Busi-ness:  A persons professional dealings or occupation

So-cial: Having to do with people living in groups;  enjoying friendly companionship with others.  n. An informal party or gathering.

So-cia-ble:  Capable of friendly social relations;  enjoying the company of others

So-cial-ism:  A system in which people as a whole, and not individuals, control and own the property.

Net-work:  A system of interlacing tracks, channels, or lines;  an interconnected system.

Okay, so one might assume from the mixing of these works that APSense is a community of Professional People who enjoy communicating with each other, and together OWN the system that has connected us.  Hey, isn't this kinda what forums are all about?  Some others words for forum:  marketplace, court, tribunal, council, symposium, panel, town meeting, Bull Session!

Enough of my rambling...

I am calling on EVERYONE who is a part of this community to come out and tell us why you are here!  What is it that you like, hate, love....Why are we here and just what are we trying to accomplish??  What makes APSense so special anyways...why should anyone be a part of it?

Advertising?

Communication?

Networking?

Tell US!!

Tell ME!  I need to know...before I continue to do anything here!

Why am I here? To learn and to help mainly. If in the process I make a sale or two, that is all a bonus! My main objective is to help others develop their own online businesses, be it through Affiliate Programs, Resale Products, Memberships or even creating their very own product!
Yes, when I first came in to Apsense, I did as most others have, blatantly posted Sales pitches everywhere and even some hidden in blogs and posts here and there :-)
The way I see it, if someone asks about a topic and I can provide the tools they need, why should I send them to someone else (that they will probably NOT get the support from, that they will from me?)

Although I have not yet seen the feedback I would like to, it is already evident that there is much more to APSense than advertising as far as some members are concerned. I am still a little confused as to why none of the leaders or more acurately the people behind the creation and management of this community have yet to shed any light on the issue. I understand you guys are probably busy like a lot of community members likely are and as some have stated here in this discussion already. What has me somewhat baffled though is I did hear from admin. through the private message system, although there has been no reply to my last message and still no feedback here. What are we to think? Is it just up to us to guess at the direction? What if we start building in a specific manner and all the sudden we discover it is not what management had in mind at all? None the less, here are some of my assumptions and observations.

You get enough people together and there will always be disagreements of some if not just about any and every nature conceivable. We all get a little out of line on occasion, maybe some of us more than others but the important thing is that we all learn how to take accountability for our actions and learn to focus on working together so we may all benefit from the fruits of our labour. The diversity present here and the true beauty of us as humans shines brightest when we express ourselves through our thoughts and feelings. There are those amongs us who are committed to keeping this community an ethical and transparent place to socialize and do business. None of us is perfect. But together we can and will be simply magneficent. In the name of truth, justice, honour, freedom and the greatest community online at present....lets keep it that way!

Why am I here?

In the beginning all was void and then, miraculously came a mighty host borne upon wings of finest gossamer in a sky of truest blue.

And a voice came out of the midst of this mighty host and did say unto me....

"Behold there is a new star in the firmament and you are bid attend and seek there friends, knowledge and converse."

So, I attended. And I saw that it was good.

Apsense is here to be what you want it to be but it it only works well if you are able to see that contribution is the greater part of membership.

The most destructive attitude that I have ever encountered is the 'I' complex. There is not much of it here and it was a great pleasure to see that this discussion is in 'we' format.

If the truth is known, and I include myself here, we do not know WHY we are here - we only know that we sense value and want to profit in some way from that value.

We are all learning - and that is why we are here.

Epistle to the dubious.

If there is one primary example of how we joined together in friendship and trying to help one another it's in the groups we've formed like Social Bookmarking....we ALL CONTRIBUTED! Same with a few other groups where we all worked together to grow and expand our businesses and ourselves. While I used to think I preferred places like Yuwie and MyLot, I found this site was my first stop every day instead of the others, or the one I made time for when I wasn't feeling good. I truly believe there is a core group that expresses that integrity, respect and knowledge that you are looking for Garnet!

Now that i have a spare moment, I'm here because of the people I meet. I have a chance to meet people, help people and educate people. In the process I learn from all of you. Each of us brings something different to the table. Each of us brings something but we take away much more than we bring.

I figure that all of you will get to know me. I don't need to "sell" As you get to know me you'll look into what I have to offer. I don't need to spam or down anyone else. Those are the children among us, I'm an adult so I deal with the adults here. The children will grow up some day.

Well, I came here as a total newbie. Figured it would be a good place to learn and I was right.

I have made some very good friends also. that is a bonus. That is what keeps me here.

I think I don't contribute as much as I used to in the beginning because for a while, we got overrun with ads everywhere. And hands up, I was a big offender!!! But we all learn, some of us quickly, some a bit more slowly. Some have the experience and knowledge to pass on, some of us don't.
So we all have things that we contribute. Even those of us who are the 'takers' (and I mean myself because I learn from everyone but don't have enough knowledge to pass back) the majority of the time, are really giving. Because we are giving the 'teachers' the chance to pass on thier skills and experience the joy of giving.

I love Apsense. I don't think I need to visit every day or comment on every blog, in the same way as I don't have to contact my offline friends every day or comment on everything they say and do. Does that make me less worthy of your friendship?

Hi Garnet,

You asked one very good question. I assumed that you had already knew many other social networking sites too. But more than 90% people on Apsense have their own online business. I can say APsense is one "purely" business social network.

When people first come to Apsense. Yes, they think they find one new way to post their ads. But later people will understand APsense is one place to group "SAME INTEREST" people together. They may learn from others, make more biz friends here too.

There are thousands of new sites come out everyday, but everyone including you and me want one place where we can keep in touch for long time. We also need one clean room (groups in apsense) where no ads disturb us. This is what APSense does for you.

On the other hand, APSense iChannel will be new tool for every apsensers. Now you can not only communicate with other apsensers on APSense, but also with your leads (buyers, customers, users, opt-list...) by using APSense iChannel Services.

In short words, here is my idea for all apsensers what to do here.
1. Make friends and keep in touch with them.
2. Learn from others and share your knowledge with others.
3. Post your ads and explore good biz opportunities from others.
4. Build your reputation and respect others.
5. Find effective way to communicate with your leads without email marketing (clients, users, buyers.) and boost your sales too.
6. List all your business into one place - ABC.
7. Make money here as your bonus. :-)

Do you have any more supplement? please let me know, thanks

Hi San,

I believe most of us are "guilty" at some point in time or another of the whole "spam" issue.
And Apsense can be a great place to learn otherwise!

Also, your comment "Even those of us who are the 'takers' (and I mean myself because I learn from everyone but don't have enough knowledge to pass back) the majority of the time"

Well maybe you think you don't have enough knowledge to pass back, but I know we ALL have something to offer. I would ask you, what are you passionate about? What drives you? What do you know in your heart? and btw...you just contributed by commenting here!

and NO, what you said does not make you less worthy!:-)

HI Garnet,

Networking is difficult to do and have the end result be a sign on for
yours or anyone's business.... Think of it this way. If you have an
insurance office in the real world and need to get people in your office?
How many people do you have to contact and know to build your business?

It's the same online. You will contact literally thousands for anyone you actually
sign up when it all averages out! sometimes it's 1 out of 100s...that's real
good!

think of it as fishing! Where are they biting? in the bay across from you
or up that inlet that feeds into the bay? Maybe over at the dead willow
that's hanging into the water just over that drop off....

I went through and sent messages to over several hundred of my contacts
here at APSense and did get one sign up out of it...

when I look at the who's online and posting box? Out of my more than 1,000 contacts there are generally the same people posting.... There are 1,000s in communities within
APSense sort of sub communities that you probably havent' even met
as yet! .... so... One obligation that affiliates who use free or low cost services like APSense is to advertise and bring in sign ups.... so going to other sites is where that's supposed to happen....

After the initial rush here at APSense...things have quieted down. Sometimes before Christmas there is busy times in Social communities... it may be a year where the next rush will be after the New Year or the New Year weekend!

But I really like what Wincer wrote! that'll keep be focused on what I do not
only here but as an online marketer!

*******************************************************
So...these are Wincer's Words, and I quote:

In short words, here is my idea for all apsensers what to do here.
1. Make friends and keep in touch with them.
2. Learn from others and share your knowledge with others.
3. Post your ads and explore good biz opportunities from others.

6. List all your business into one place - ABC.
7. Make money here as your bonus. :-)

Hi Wincer,

In complete honesty I actually haven't been around many other networking sites, or not all that actively anyways. Yes there are an aweful lot of them out there but the trouble I have found with them is their is simply no or very little professionalism or anything else other than blatent advertising to be found among them.

Getting down to business, thats quite the platform you lay out there and it looks great as far as I'm concerned! I realize that APSense is still basically in it's infancy(as is the internet) but as far as I can see it has been built so far on a pretty rock solid foundation of morals and ethics and God-willing it will continue to do so. I believe the bottom line here is what really makes the community great is the people, and this ties into what you stated about making friends and respecting others. There are so many here who just get this, how important putting others first and being open and honest with them really is. When we all learn to work together with this common focus there's just no telling how far we'll really go with it!

My thoughts at the moment,

Thank you Wincer and everyone else who has commented so far, as for those of you who haven't yet, I hope to hear your outlooks and opinions soon!

When I was inroduced to Apsense I did not really understand what it was about.

I started my website 2 years ago and knowing very little about network marketing I just started doing what everyone suggested.

I am a bit like a chicken scratching around for corn and sometimes being shown where to find it by the local rooster. I am beginning to realise I need to focus on just one social network site like Apsense and ignore all the others, otherwise I'm just wasting my time.

So there's a New Year's resolution for me!

I am a total and complete newbie, although I've had an online business (niche website for women motorcyclists) since March. My site is more an info site than a marketing site, although I do have affiliate programs.

SO, I'm not sure what I can learn here, but as with all things lately, I'm certainly open.

Hi Chris,

If you are looking to focus on one business networking site APSense is definetly the place to be. Now that may sound like the same old bullfluff we've all become so accustomed to but the statement we are making as a community here is unparalleled by any other network out there.

Thanks for stopping by and I as well as many others are here if you need anything.

Hi Christine,

I'm not sure what you can learn either...lol...I believe pretty much anything you wish with all the people from all walks of life and different backgrounds and such. So I would ask you what you are looking to learn?

Thanks for the comment

First off, I must say that my main reason for joining Apsense was because a very excellent writer and friend warned me NOT to do it... She said that she was going through a slump after suffering a needless loss and thought that Apsense, might help her out if it... Didn't work for her (Firey, Humourous, Sexy and Bold personality).

I signed up, and it took me almost six months to become active here... (Truly stultifying, if you let it become that way) until good ol Juenelle posted a very funny blog that gave me a jump-start....

Nowadays, it's the fun of writing and sharing that I enjoy most of all... It's not the money, $9.00 is all that I have made so far, and I rarely promote stuff here, unless I feel that it would be good for folks to take a look at...

Some part of me likes the idea of growing with something from the beginning-- I like new things and meeting diverse folks... Making them laugh or think differently about stuff can be as inspiring as making a bucketful of money selling my inventory! :)

Hi all,

Great to see the blog still going and Hi Wincer - very good to see you here and commenting on WHY we are here.

Having joined, what now seems a life time ago - "on the run" from a place where advertising and infighting had become the norm and no relationship building was getting done - I have to admit that I was beginning to find ApSense a little stuffy and rule bound until, like Jeff, I came across a few very good and seriously "politically incorrect" people who have turned ApSense into a joy to be in. They are all serious business people who like to get to know each other and enjoy each others company and that is how we build relationships. I would hate to see this exhuberance crushed and will happily put up with the ocassional advertising pm from them, rather than see them leave.

However, as we are all mainly business people - we do have businesses to bring to peoples attention and Wincer's comment No. 3 is very important.

3. Post your ads and explore good biz opportunities from others

I dont like a constant plague of spam taking up bandwith - but I dont like spam witchhunts either.

One thing that would certainly enhance my own personal posting would be if our signature links allowed for a little more stuff. They are very short. Then I could advertise my two businesses everytime I post. there is no room for both links - so one has to go by the board. SO..... I go to places where I can have it up there without advertising in the wrong place.and post content.

I am here to make friends and improve my business knowledge and contacts. and HAVE FUN!

Love to all!

Jenny

Hi, Wincer,

3. Post your ads and explore good biz opportunities from others.

I wish this could be enforced in some way.

The vast majority of ads posted in Apsense (and similar community sites) ARE NOT the ads of the member but the ads of some remote scriptwriter.

There is not a single ad that I have seen (I discount ads from anonymous members) that indicates that the member posting the ad has had any success with what they are promoting - indeed - many (because of the copy and paste aspect of ads) have the same claimed results and motivational events as most of the others promoting the same product.

Isn't it about time that it became a rule that ads could only be placed in the words of the advertiser with verifiable proofs of results?

I realise this would lead to a stampede of those unable to contemplate a little effort in their promotional activities - but would Apsense be any worse off without them?
