Blue light is a portion of the visible light spectrum, much like the ultra-violet light. Too much exposure to it may lead to cataract and other eye-related problems. The main sources of blue light are digital television, computers, smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices. In the coming years, a lot of research has been done on the health effects of blue light.  It causes sleeping disorders, retinal damage and eye strain. So, it is highly recommended to wear blue light glasses when using sources of this light like smartphones, tablets, laptops and computers.

You should protect your kids from blue light as their eyes are particularly vulnerable to the effects of blue light. This is because virtually all of the blue light is exposed to pass through their cornea and lens. Also, children spend more time on electronic devices. And this puts them at risk for over-exposure to blue light that may prove to have long-term consequences. You should inculcate some safe technology habits in your children. This will help them. Don’t allow them to use electronic devices at bedtime. They should say goodbye to technology 2 to 3 hours before going to bed. Also, you should turn down the brightness of your devices to decrease the amount of blue light emission. You should educate them to make it a practice to wear blue blockers whenever they are using technology. The glasses will protect their eyes from the effects of blue light.
